you'd think a book club sounds right up my alley cuz I love discussing books but I'm such a mood reader

sometimes I wonder if it's worth posting my reading summaries but then one person engages me on a book they also read and I hear an angelic choir & fulfill my role standing in front of the pepe silvia board wanting to talk about books

oh absolutely!! which is kinda the beauty of it even when it didn't meet my expectations. I really loved the worldbuilding, it was what made me feel a unique, visceral disgust, I just wish it had done -more-. enjoy your bookclub!!!

fun fact there's a movie adaptation of the last one by m. night shyamalan & it's like beat for beat the book until he decides to do a 180 and upend the conclusion which completely goes against what the author intended ghfdjgh

📖 cabin: 3.75-4 stars. my first paul tremblay & I liked it! maybe could've been trimmed a bit but I liked the prose a lot. had a good balance of making you question whether what was happening was legit or not without answering definitely & I like the intent behind his writing decisions

📖 listen to your sister: 2.25. thought the writing was good but also overwritten & bloated? the synopsis talks about how they go to a cabin in the woods but they don't get there til the 50% mark. I like the themes it's shooting for but it's v repetitive & I wanted to dnf a few times
