A wonderful film.
A wonderful film.
Heck yeah. Way to go.
If you're waking up and are using this site to piece together information as to what's happening in Iran, don't forget that there are channels like Al Jazeera you can watch, too:
I do, but all Iβm suggesting is that thereβs a difference between good money funding good info infrastructure leading to good civic health as opposed to not.
I hope to see a future where CPB/NPR gets funding close to or on par with the BBC.
I know there's a lot going on, but I hope to see a future where CPB/NPR gets funding close to or on par with the BBC.
Part of the issue here is what social media has tried to replace β the collapse of newspapers over the past 20-30 years being one β and so it seems to me that one part of the solution is to have a public media budget on par with the BBC.
Kanopy has a lot of Frederick Wiseman films. Theyβre worth the watch, and the only thing you need to sign up for Kanopy is a library card.
A bunch of his stuff is on Kanopy! You just need a library card for that.
I worked on and off as a journalist from when I was 16 to maybe when I was 29 or so. I remember being told that it was perfectly fine to clean up um's and uh's.
David Smith's 'Making Monsters' argued that folks who engage in dehumanization often hold contradictory beliefs. For what it's worth.
To that point: I feel like there's a line in an @adamserwer.bsky.social piece from late last year where he spoke about how the Roberts court thinks that the true crime isn't its interest in reviving the Antebellum constitution, but when its racism is publicly perceived.
Itβs really weird. Like, part of my brain is saying it was literally just yesterday when Pat and Jonathan showed this to us. And also. And yet.
it was 20 years ago today... that my friends made one of the first mashup videos on da internet! wow! Memories indeeeed
Happy anniversary to this sketch.
Well done.
As someone who still thinks about the Kareem v. Dr. J match-up from time to time, I honestly wouldn't mind this.
Confused (and sorry to hear) that you disliked it that much.
But β at the same time β youβre not wrong
I 1000% know what you mean. I think that β personally β Iβm still unresolved as to whether or not I like the ending. Because so much of the movie is about Bobβs love (βIβm a fool to do your dirty work for you β) and the movie as a whole take such big swings in so many spots, Iβm open to the cornball
But, hey, ultimately? It's whatever. Glad you saw it/dug Penn.
Because the bit from the intro of Chase Infiniti to Sean Penn walking towards the camera with the flames/cross dissolve/song literally called Perfidia playing in the background felt like one solid thru-line.
I know what you mean, but I'm almost of the mind that -- in his head -- PTA landed on a prologue and epilogue for telling this and just didn't flag 'em as such.
I was just about to ask if we'd had a long rest.
We live in a society. Vaccines help us help each other. A lack of vaccines help us hurt each other.

It's an MTV simulator with almost 30,000 videos, organized by decade, with special sections for Headbanger's Ball and Yo! MTV Raps. This is so good.
Here are the child vaccine recommendations as of November 2024. Keep them with you, advocate for your kids, get the vaccines they need to stay healthy and promote immunity for the whole community. #Health #CDC #vax
