Twisted Message: A prophet’s unchecked global sect
A religious sect called “The Message” has spread worldwide — and also sprouted destructive “cults.” An investigation exposes the child abuse, misogyny and manipulation in some of the faith’s subgroups...
Emily followed up our 2024 reporting doggedly. The new charges stem from follow-up reporting she did in 2025 involving an additional young man. Previously the church's pastor was charged with failure to report sexual abuse as a result of our reporting. Series here: tucson.com/life-enterta...

Man who allegedly molested boy in Tucson church pews faces new criminal charges
He admitted to molesting a boy. And now he's been indicted again — this time, for alleged child sexual abuse that happened during church services.
Again, reporting by my colleague @emilyhamer.bsky.social has led to criminal charges being brought against a man accused of sexual abusing boys at a Tucson church. This is the third criminal case resulting from reporting that Emily and I started publishing in Nov. 2024.

very aspect of life in this country is designed so that people do not form bonds or relationships with other people, it's wild to watch in action. Never seen divide and conquer applied this rigorously to a domestic population that is not under foreign occupation

I once bought the first 10 front-row seats for an arena concert by Prince with The Time opening, even though I was not first in line. It turned out everyone ahead of me was in line to buy Black Sabbath tickets.

Spanish PM Sánchez responds to Trump:
"Spain is against this disaster... Govts are here to improve people's lives... It is absolutely unacceptable that those leaders who are unable to fulfill that mission use the smoke of war to hide their failure, and in the process, fill the pockets of a few."

Tim Steller's column: Tucson's Congress members owe us war debate
For Star subscribers: The outbreak of war in Iran brings to a head a problem surging in Trump's second term — Congress members like Tucson's Juan Ciscomani handing their power
Column: In the Tucson area, only one of our members of the U.S. House is demanding a say over going to war in Iran. It's not my representative, Juan Ciscomani, who has repeatedly handed his power to the president rather than fully represent his consituents.

So, in launching a huge bombing campaign on Iran they apparently didn't plan for:
- Who takes over;
- Interceptor shortages from sustained drone retaliation;
- How to defend US bases in the region;
- Threats to ships in the Strait of Hormuz; and
- How to evacuate Americans with airspace closed.

That one person can drag us into a war without consulting or even notifying Congress, or our allies, or fully explaining to the American people why this is necessary, is absolutely bonkers.
Reminder that Congress has the power to stop this.

In a long tweet about Anthropic, Pete Hegseth, through the offical "SecWar" Twitter account says "the Department of War must have full, unrestricted access to Anthropic’s models for every LAWFUL purpose in defense of the Republic."
Hegseth is wholeheartedly endorsing the core premise of fascism: industry, as part of the private sphere, must be subordinated to the military objectives of the state.
