When I was a hospice chaplain, I sometimes had ordinands on placement with me. Vanstone’s ‘The Stature of Waiting’ was always top of the reading list I suggested to them.

That’s a shame - would have been a great birthday present for Frank! Glad it was good, though 😊

Any idea when the rest of us are going to get a chance to visit that site, rather than just go past it yearning?!

Happy International Nurses Day!
Grateful thanks to nurses everywhere for their skill, dedication and care.
Florence Nightingale was born 205 years ago today. I wonder what she would make of the NHS in 2025?

In Hitler's last will and testament, dictating hours before he committed suicide, 80 years ago in April 1945, he insisted that no one had wanted war in 1939. It had been forced on him by 'international Jewry and its helpers.'

Haven’t seen the film, but my husband told me the other day he’s writing ‘No balloons’ in his funeral instructions, ‘because they pollute the countryside’.

Wonderful time at #Oxford Playhouse experiencing ‘A Man For All Seasons’ with Martin Shaw & Gary Wilmot. The acting & Robert Bolt’s writing brilliantly portrayed the story; history, yet a timeless story of integrity in the face of others’ self interest.

Thank you for your primrose thread. My father was a botanist. Some years ago, when his health was failing, I planted up a bowl of primroses for him for his birthday. He looked and said, ‘Some are pin eyed & some are thrum eyed’. Special moment. He died a week later. Thanks for triggering my memory.

Seems I was gloriously premature - birds are now singing - nature is amazing - there is still hope.

I’m remembering that 26 years ago this was the morning after my father had died. I woke early. I heard the first bird sing, then another, till a glorious chorus resounding with hope.
This morning I woke early, I listened - nothing. So sad.

Wonderful performance of ‘The Armed Man’ in Milton Keynes last night.
Powerful and poignant.
When will we ever learn?
