I just realized that for the past 15 minutes I've been staring at a blank DAW while I mouth various drum patterns.

In the TV show Bosch, the dog was named Coltrane. Bosch was a big Jazz fan.
Ehh, you're a badass with respect to design. Don't be envious. Your music videos speak for themselves βΊοΈ
Me, when I put together a chord progression I haven't already done before.

I don't even have to try. It just happens anyway π
Way back in 7th or 8th grade, my neighbor and I used to make tapes pretending we were radio DJs. He ended up being a big time radio DJ in the SF market (J. Espinosa). I often think about if I continued to commit myself like he did.
Agreed. The fact that anyone listens to my music at all is huge for me. Getting back into music got me out of the darkest period of my life. Anyone who happens to listen I'm extremely grateful for.

I went back and read your previous posts. I also have a similar path of a rudimentary dabbling in music earlier in my life (for me 2005ish) followed by a long break until relatively recently.
For whatever it's worth, before I found this website a year and half ago, I didn't know your music. But now you're one of the few people I aspire to one day elevate my music to. Realistically, I know that will never happen but it keeps me pushing harder to make quality music!
I'm sorry you're going through this. My thoughts are with you
This is great. I love learning about people's processes and insight.

I'm so out of my comfort zone with fan art, and I made a whole design before scrapping it but I'm really happy with how this came out πββοΈ

I didn't know that about the song!
Dogs are the best
But lately it's like the creativity finally came back. It feels so good to sit down and hammer out something that's 80% done within 2-3 hours. Once that creativity starts flowing it's hard to contain and it's the best feeling
Luckily when I was in my funk I was still doing things. Mainly things like playing with plugins to see what they can do (I've downloaded so many over the years and never really explored them) or analyzing spectrum meters to see what different compressors do. Stuff like that lol
I had been in an extended funk until about a month ago. Then just a couple of days ago I made something I'm extremely proud of. Mainly because it doesn't "smell" like me, if that makes sense. It's like I pushed through a new creative barrier.
