From language challenges to ECโcards and FATCA headaches, foreign residents share what really works โ and what doesnโt โ when it comes to banking in Germany.
I blindly grabbed these off a supermarket shelf thinking they were pickled onions for my cheese n pickled onion sarnies, but then on closer inspection found out they're pear balls, LOL.
@rachloxton.bsky.social fyi - I only discovered this recently.
They walked over to a newly Thursday stocked shelf and simply grabbed the item and handed it over to me.
No delivery packaging.
Happened on a few occassions now. So no difference to waiting til they restock shelves anyway.
Stores like electronics, dept stores still typically get one big delivery per week on Thursday morning. This ensures stock is available for main Fri/Sat trading days. If you order online click + collect on Friday, you'll likely be waiting til following Thursday.
Home delivery = immediate dispatch
Tip for Germany: If you are doing click + collect for e.g MediaMarkt / Saturn
cos their product is out of stock instore tho allocated shelf-space for it, you will NOT get it any quicker than waiting for their big Thursday delivery
If you need it faster, order home delivery

Remember when Trump waged a tariff war on all countries which are allies of the US?
Remember when Trump waged war on nationals of those ally countries who were just visiting the US as a tourist, and got slung in an ICE detention camp the moment they landed?
Allies right now...
I absolutely love it Kathy when you talk about TV shows. More. More. More, please!
Seriously, you should pitch to do DVD extras (well streaming) commentary tracks on all major shows and movies. I'd join a streamer just for THAT alone. It'd be fucking hilarious :-)
If you need me, Iโll be sitting down with a bucket of popcorn binging this docu-series. Stay tuned! Until then, go watch this weekโs episode of Kathy Griffin: Talk Your Head Off, out now on my YouTube!

BIE has been trying to engage with the Home Office on this topic for a year. We wrote to SoS Yvette Cooper last May and still have not received a written reply. Two recent calls with officials have not got us a grace period so weโve sent another letter with the3million and ILPA bit.ly/4cOcZ3Q
One of the stated aims of the EU's new EES system of biometric passport checks is to catch people who 'over-stay' the 90-day limit, and 4,000 of those have been caught in the first months of its implementation, according to an EU official.

Well put:
