I agree and I hate showing my face in this vulnerable time of my life (transition) but FWIW I think heโ€™s speaking to a subset of reporters who are both in legacy media and need to stay competitive w/ new media, not necessarily applicable to *all* reporters

Reactionary crank with an axe to grind who gained air time for bungling a study years ago is now writing op eds for the most powerful newspaper in the western world because media literacy is in her flop era and faith in legacy institutions is collapsing?

Gavin Newsom goes back to his moderate roots in new memoir The governor, now seen as a progressive crusader, first entered local politics as a moderate businessman.

The greatest trick the devil ever pulled was convincing people local newspaper reporters are rarified elites instead of ink-stained wretches driving their Honda Civic to a crime scene so you know donโ€™t have to rely on Nextdoor and the police press release.

iโ€™m very proud of @theverge.comโ€™s ongoing minneapolis coverage. iโ€™m insanely lucky to work somewhere that takes immigration reporting seriously and did so even before trumpโ€™s reelection. we took many different approaches to DHSโ€™s operation in MN, maybe theyโ€™re not all to your taste. thatโ€™s okay!

Gaby del Valle is one of the best reporters I know and the attacks against her on here are not only shocking in their violence and bigotry but also incredibly bad-faith and utterly without merit.

it's really not fun to have people who get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year debate your humanity and how "far" your rights went when all you wanted to do was build a better life for yourself.

Russell Vought, Trumpโ€™s Shadow President From the wholesale gutting of federal agencies to the ongoing government shutdown, Russell Vought has drawn the road map for Trumpโ€™s second term. Vought has consolidated power to an extent that inside...

"The Shadow President," @andykroll.bsky.social's deep dive into Russell Vought, has just won a George Polk award for political reporting.

The piece chronicles Voughtโ€™s rise from the Senate mailroom to his position as one of the most influential players in the Trump administration.

Jeff Bezos Couldโ€™ve Saved The Post But He Didnโ€™t I thought my time in local newspapers and digital media had desensitized me to layoffs. But it always hurts to lose something you love.

Is the Cis Literary World Okay? - Public Books Contemporary trans literature is thriving in a highly freewheeling mannerโ€ฆ How revealing, then, that David Brooks recently suggested that literary fiction has been declining in quality.

New at PB: Sophie Lewis (@reproutopia.bsky.social) reviews Davey Davisโ€˜s โ€œCasanova 20โ€ (@catapultbooks.bsky.social) and Grace Byronโ€™s โ€œHerculine,โ€ two novels thatโ€”however differentโ€”both โ€œquietly exalt real friends above other conceptualizations of love.โ€

at risk of sounding annoying, it was very, very cool to be asked to contribute to the BP Annual. kinda pinching myself at having my writing included alongside a stacked list of writers that I admire an insane amount. big thank you to @baseballprospectus.com, go buy the book folks.

Will Lewisโ€™s exit is long overdue. His legacy will be the attempted destruction of a great American journalism institution. But it's not too late to save The Post. Jeff Bezos must immediately rescind these layoffs or sell the paper to someone willing to invest in its future.
