My old coach, Nathan Martin, has long been one of my heroes — it’s thrilling to see his enormous effort recognized on a national stage! There is no better person to represent the spirit and hustle of Michigan.
I was proud to join the fearless @jocelynbenson.bsky.social in Alabama to march the Edmund Pettus Bridge and honor the civil rights movement. As the youngest Black person elected in Ann Arbor history, I stand on the shoulders of those before me. I carry that courage home to the Fourth Ward.
Today in Selma I joined Michigan lawmakers and thousands more to honor those who came before us to fight for a more just and fair world. Together we will continue their unfinished work, to build a democracy — and an economy — where all can truly thrive and prosper.
I am honored to announce that I have received the endorsement of Amos O’Neal, Chair of the Michigan Legislative Black Caucus. His support is meaningful as I work to deliver a more equitable future for every neighbor in Ann Arbor and bring critical resources to the Fourth Ward.

We had a great time at Hazel today! This space has quickly become a popular neighborhood connection point. Beyond their viral cloud-foam cold brews, it’s clear our neighbors yearn for accessible spaces to gather. I’ll work to make it easier for small businesses to flourish.
I am grateful for Council Member Jen Eyer’s support and her recognition of my years of leadership in our community. I look forward to bringing that experience to City Council to continue delivering results for the residents of Ward 4.

This is how I will lead on City Council. Leadership is about having the grit to knock on the highest doors until they open for our community. I have spent years building the trust necessary to advocate for Ann Arbor at every level of government.
Together, we did lifesaving work, expanding testing locations while directing critical resources to underserved families here in Washtenaw County and across Michigan.
I reached out to the Lt. Governor on Twitter to ask for guidance and a way to scale our impact. He answered. After a call with my team, he invited me to serve on the Michigan Coronavirus Task Force on Racial Disparities.
In 2020, as a student and community leader in Ann Arbor, I was on the ground supporting our most vulnerable neighbors through the peak of the crisis. The need was overwhelming, and I knew we needed state-level support to meet the moment.
