We're kicking off this afternoon at the #UCU ARPS annual meeting with guest speaker @howardstevenson.bsky.social from @uonucu.bsky.social, talking about the Building to Win project. Situating our struggle & challenges in wider trends in tertiary education and the union movement in and beyond the UK.
In an unprecedented move, one reflective of the deeply unprecedented times at our university, UoN branches of three different unions (@UCU.org.uk, @unisonorg.uk, and Unite) have all successfully passed motions of no confidence in the Vice Chancellor and the entire executive board.
@etui.bsky.social and ETUCE will launch the book “Governing Artificial Intelligence in the Higher Education Sector” on 4 March at 17:15 in Brussels. Join us for a discussion on AI, governance, quality, and working conditions in higher education.

Letter from the University and College Union (UCU), dated 8 January 2026, from general secretary Dr Jo Grady to the UK foreign secretary. The letter condemns Israeli military attacks on Palestinian education, including a raid on Birzeit University, calls these actions “scholasticide,” and urges the UK government to hold Israel to account through diplomatic, military and economic sanctions.
On Tuesday, the Israeli military invaded Birzeit University, attacking students with live ammunition.
Israel's scholasticide is a core part of its attempt to obliterate the collective life of the Palestinian people.
We have written to Yvette Cooper urging the British government to take action.
We strongly condemn the military raid by Israeli forces on the campus of Birzeit University in Palestine.
Attacks on education communities are violations of human rights and international law.
Education International stands in solidarity with Birzeit University.

Checking new manuscripts today I reviewed a paper attributing 2 papers to me I did not write. A daft thing for an author to do of course. But intrigued I web searched up one of the titles and that's when it got real weird...
