Maine may be Vacationland, but it wasn't always for everyone. In 1975, the gay liberation movement pushed back against continual oppression in Wells and Ogunquit.

On this day in 1973, the armed re-occupation of Wounded Knee begins on the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. Led by Oglala Lakota community members and their American Indian Movement supporters, the action would result in a 71 day standoff.

Fawlty Towers created by John Cleese and Connie Booth. What a damn farce. Queer Representation: F (for homophobic jokes and the "sad gays" trope)
Hamnet directed by ChloΓ© Zhao. I haven't read the book it's based on, but I love that they focus so much on Anne Hathaway and her son Hamnet rather than on William. You see almost nothing of Shakespear's work right up until the exact moment it matters most. Queer Representation: None
Grading queer representation can feel weird for some media. Here, you could do an Ace or trans reading of the film- There's aspects of the character portray of Joan that absolutely give queer signals. When rating media queerness I try to consider the textual intentionality.
The Passion of Joan of Arc directed by Carl Theodor Dreyer. RenΓ©e Jeanne Falconetti gives one of the most heart breaking performances I've seen in a film, let alone one from a century ago. The cinematography is another highlight, every shot, every frame is intentional. Queer Representation: None?

Civil disobedience is nothing new to the Black and LGBTQ communities. As Ernestine Eckstein reflected in 1965 in conversation with Kay Lahusen and Barbara Gittings, it is fundamental to educating those around us about injustice.

now we've got deny, defend, depose
Nirvana The Band directed by Matt Johnson never really allowed me to be a passive participant. It drags you by the throat through its rube-goldburg contraption of a narrative as the trainwreck piles up around you. Loved it, but the second hand cringe is ROUGH. Queer Representation: None
Some day when I have the attention span and the free time to do it, I will write a long winded and unhinged essay about far future science fiction TV and Movies that portray their indigenous peoples analogue living in crappy future-burlap tents. It's everywhere in sci-fi.
GLHFFDD directed by Gore Verbinski is a wild ride. Multiple times during this film I looked to my friend jaw agape mouthing "WHAT THE FUCK." At no point could I really tell what was going to happen next and left the theater desperate to untangle the implications of it all. Queer Representation: None
Black Arms to Hold You Up by Ben Passmore examines the history of Black armed resistance in the US. It's gorgeously drawn, tragically told, and highlights stories that were selectively edited out of the collective American understanding of history and civil rights. Queer Representation: N/A
Final Fantasy-ass levels of ghoulish appalling logic.
This is absolutely heroic tbh, incredible work, succinct & precise
One for the people still seething about the glasses #StarTrek #StarfleetAcademy
I am so excited for this to come out. Ann Leckie's work is incredible and the Imperial Ranch series one of my favorite sci-fi universes.
ICE has scaled down in Maine. But they ARE still here.
Please continue to report ICE activity to 207-544-9989.
That so many people are calling my office about this means no one's taking anything for granted. They're continuing to protect their neighbors.
Be vigilant, be safe and KNOW YOUR RIGHTS!
i would be overjoyed if the U.S. had a president as ethical and even-tempered as Chancellor Gowron
Milk White Steed by Michael D. Kennedy examines the black experience in Britain through a graphic novel short stories. I admit, I don't have the context for everything, but I can feel solidarity with the struggle to make space in a world that fights you. ??? QR ???
I can see the corporation imprisoning the player orbital dropping a rainbow pin for pride month to them "for morale."
The Guy She Was Interested In Wasn't A Guy At All by Arai Sumiko. I. Love. The. Green. Yuri.
Queer representation A+ - for making me wait 'til Vol. 4 for "that scene."
The Infinity Particle bu Wendy Xu. Gorgeously drawn, the use of blue and pink is so pretty. I love the world building and the setting. Valles Marineris!!! The examination of post-humanism had me thinking of the parallels to O Human Star, a favorite graphic novel of mine.
Queer representation: N/A
Planet Crafter's Toxicity DLC by Miju Games. Planet Crafter continues to have my favorite expansions in a crafting survival game. The toxic mechanic is incredible, the map is packed for exploration and the corporation storyline is somehow even more messed up. Queer Representation: N/A
Seems to be accurate now.

If you campaigned for the presidency on a promise to destroy these assholes, you would win a landslide the size of FDR in 1936, when he campaigned on a promise to destroy these assholes.
Ask not for who the bells bottom, they bottom for thee.
'measles outbreak at the child prison' seems entirely avoidable, it's really the kind of thing that only happens if you do several unthinkably evil things on purpose all at once
you should draw your ocs boobs just a smidge bigger next time, for me :)
In 1974, the Maine Gay Task Force locked arms with the rest of the gay liberation movement and took on national broadcasters ABC and NBC.
