Making 'The Offence' (1973) Sidney Lumet, Sean Connery YouTube video by Shot, Drawn & Cut

Here's a rare treat. A behind the scenes documentary about the making of The Offence, with director Sidney Lumet taking Sean Connery through his paces in rehearsal. Absolutely fascinating

THREAD: I got laid off from NYMag/Vulture after 14 years. The family lost 75% of income + medical. Now mzs.press bookstore, once a side project. is do-or-die for Judith & I. I feel weird telling you this because others are doing much worse. But if you could like or share this, we'd be so grateful!

Happy birthday to one of Europe's great Western artists, Monsieur Michel Blanc-Dumont!
Blanc-Dumont's Cartland (story: Laurence Harlé) was inspired by revisionist westerns such as Little Big Man and Jeremiah Johnson and is now considered a classic. #ComicSky #Western

And it seems me that the moralist is the most useless and contemptible of creatures. He is useless in that he would expend its energies upon making judgements rather than upon gaining knowledge, for the reason that judgement is easy and knowledge is difficult. He is contemptible in that his judgements reflect a vision of himself which in his ignorance and pride he would impose upon the world.

Caius Milnius Maecena to Titus Livius in John Williams‘ Augustus

The great Marjane Satrapi. If you haven‘t read Persepolis, now is the perfect time. The film adaptation (written and directed by Satrapi and Vincent Paronnaud) is also fantastic.
