If after reading @gelliottmorris.com's excellent piece on how most voters are non-ideologues you want to know how these non-ideologues still reason about politics in a halfway predictable way - we have a paper on that:

Fiscal consolidation lowers real output, raises the unemployment rate and increase income inequality. Contractionary effects stronger during recessions; supports the Keynesian view that periods of weakness are not suitable for consolidation efforts. Blog summary of our research:

every time one of these markets dissembles and parses and weasels their way out of paying people on a technicality my heart grows three sizes like the grinch. i love to watch these people get scammed on crypto and nfts and gambling. they deserve it and it's funny and it's not my problem at all

Look this seems like a classic internet dynamic where I’m not sure we really disagree and yet you are mad I didn’t reflect your opinion back to you in the specific words you would have used. Yes, war is bipartisan business - completely agree. But that was not the point of my original post!

You are the one using exclusionary language - when did I say this was β€œonly” a maga issue or that β€œonly” the President matters?

28.02.2026 17:37 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 0

Bc it obviously is a MAGA issue! Is Kamala Harris the fucking president right now? Look plenty of pro war democrats, no argument there - but no one gives a single fuck that John Fetterman is posting πŸ‘πŸ» this morning. This is a weird conversation.

28.02.2026 17:29 πŸ‘ 0 πŸ” 0 πŸ’¬ 1 πŸ“Œ 1

It’s interesting that’s what you got from the post. My point is exactly that - and just to say that rather than the US being duped somehow into conflict, elites within the MAGA coalition, which otherwise tells its voters it is anti-war, is all in on the conflict.

The idea that β€œIsrael got us into this war” is fairly common among my global politics students. It takes a bit of discussion to identify that many, many members of the MAGA coalition have been agitating for war with Iran for years. β€œBut Trump is an isolationist?” being the common rejoinder

Official data.gouv.fr Model Context Protocol (MCP) server that allows AI chatbots to search, explore, and analyze datasets from the French national Open Data platform, directly through conversation...

Quite surprising release from the french administration today:

Dunno if this is the first MCP server released officially by a country, but nonetheless, this is a great move.

The U.S. Had a Crazy Strategy to Beat Canada for Men’s Hockey Gold. I Can’t Believe It Worked. Canada had the U.S. outgunned, so the Americans went to Milan with a bunch of machetes.

Bill Guerin is a complete caveman and this was a reckless, good ol' boys roster-building strategy and also he was right and those of us who doubted him are unfortunately losers slate.com/culture/2026...
