Really good replies to this post when there is just a lot of bad news going around.
It’s awesome to be able to work from a pink cafe in a different city eating a vegan chocolate muffin that tastes just like the animal version.

Just had the rare case that Debian stable has packages that are too new. That’s a first for me.
(Netbox not supporting python 3.13 on Tricia yet)
Yes, you can route PTP.
But, if the switch supports PTP Boundary Clock Mode, it acts as a clock itself and does not need to route PTP.
In short, enable on the interfaces you need it on, regardless of network topology (vendor implementation dependent)
The switch is reporting a power draw of 12.3W for the dongle with the MacBook, and 1.6W for the dongle on the thinkpad. MacBook reports input power of 10W. Nice.
Battery menu of Mac OS showing battery at 55% and full in 9 hours 22 minutes.
Connected my M4 MacBook to my Dante AVIO USB-C dongle for a call and it started charging (slow). Nice.
If they could make an adapter than has more charging power, usb Ethernet interface and Dante usb interface in a similar poe powered form factor I’d be in heaven.
When the tram at around 03:00 at noon got leaves the station right on n front of your eyes, stops, and still lets you in… :3 thanks KVV
Perfect timing for a windows update, during a live concert.
Since the Dante Via also wanted activation (it’s been working on that pc before), it was not used for anything critical at that point.
The older Linux thinkpad ran the show with mixing station.
All tech (mostly OSes) should have a grumpy old man mode:
- no suggestions, notifications or feature updates / introductions
- no extra apps preinstalled
- no cloud shit by default
Just a minimal, let me get my stuff done and leave me the fuck alone experience.
Receiving 2 channels as well breaks it completely, as it won’t even sync and show up in dante controller.
Kinda expected for half-duplex.
a 10Mbit hub connected to an upstream network, a dante avio-usbc dongle connected to a phone playing audio. the collision LED is lit on the hub.
Inspired by @tracketpacer.bsky.social, I saved an old hub from the dumpster.
But can it pass a dante stream? Amazingly yes (2ch tx, no receiving stream), but quite a few clicks in the audio and collisions.
Funny enough, I’ve touched switches that supported exactly 8 VLANs. 😜
