We've had a day to pull a few things together, so here's a thread some more targeted info opposing the potential national book ban just proposed in the House of Representatives.

One was in the laundry business; the other worked for the Nickel Plate Railroad. They were both WWII vets. One lived long enough to give me notes about working in a general store in the early 1900s for my 2013 novel, In the Shadow of Blackbirds.

Last march I attended a senate vote to pass Oregon's Freedom to Read bill. While she discussed wanting to "protect" her grandchildren from books, a state senator wore a red cape that reminded me of Little Red Riding Hood's. She was one of several reasons why I wrote my play Don't Cry for the Wolves.
I focused solely on writing novels for decades and just recently started reworking ideas into other mediums. I'm so glad I finally figured out this is something I can do to keep those ideas alive or better help them take shape.
Don't let the American government decide what books you and your family are allowed to read.

THIS is how you support women in sports.
Regular folks who can't sponsor athletes, buy tickets to games. Go see women compete. One of my daughters is a distance runner. I've seen the lack of support from people who claim that being assholes to trans athletes is the way to help cis women in sports.

House Republicans have just introduced a bill that would result in a NATIONWIDE book ban. Oh, the bill is also specifically transphobic. Contact your House Rep and ask them to publicly oppose this legislation. A few more thoughts in the thread about this action. bookriot.com/hr7661-book-...

This has been said before but please understand that AI was invented to “solve” wages. Corporates are using the AI scare to depress wages. It doesn’t have to work right or be productive to reduce workers bargaining power for higher wages.
