The Braillists Foundation – Our Mission: More Braille!
The Braillists Foundation
Support for braille learning and innovation is vital. Organisations like the Braillists Foundation play a key role in building skills, confidence, and community around braille. I wouldn't be able to read Braille without them providing the training:

Ny multiline braille display, the DotPad X, has been transformative. It lets me read spreadsheets with real context. Rows, columns, relationships. When auditory overload hits, braille gives me another way in. My reading speed is not fast, and that is fine. Choice is what matters

At first, it felt slow. Audio was quicker. Easier.
But audio alone has limits.
Braille gives structure.
Spelling. Layout. Context.

Just as print represents language through letters, braille uses a six-dot cell to encode it. English, maths, music, code. That distinction matters, because braille is about literacy, not format.
I started learning braille later in life.
Not out of curiosity. Out of necessity.

Square flat-vector image on a navy background showing white text “WORLD BRAILLE DAY” above a multiline braille display, with hands in orange sleeves reading the device from the bottom and a “Tim Dixon” watermark in the bottom right.
Today is World Braille Day.
A moment to be clear about what braille is, and why it still matters.
Braille is not a language.
It is a code.

Lift reliability for Horsham Station
This page shows the historical reliability of the lifts at Horsham station.
Last 24 hours
Lift 1 Platforms 1&2
Reliability: 30%
Lift 3, station entrance to footbridge
Reliability: 12%
Lift 2 Platforms 3&4
Reliability: 44%
Each lift has a timeline graph showing when it was broken, in red, and working, in green
lifts.matteason.co.uk now shows historical reliability data for almost every station lift in the UK - for example, lifts.matteason.co.uk/HRH/history
I really hope this is useful for people who need to know how accessible local stations are as well as accessibility and disability rights campaigners
