Looks like it's time for Canada's favorite game show, "Will this embarrassing loss to the Panthers be enough to convince the Leafs to do literally anything?"

Free article idea for anyone who wants it, I would absolutely read an investigative piece on why "Rain Sounds for Sleeping Pt. 6" is outstreaming literally every Drake and Sabrina Carpenter song right now
(yes I know music journalism doesn't exist anymore but for the last few of you left)
Again, I guess I'm naive, but I can't believe these guys don't have someone around them smart enough to say "Take the incredibly easy way out and just say your NHL team needs you".
It's not even a politcal or a moral thing, it's just basic PR.
Nobody should reasonably expect Auston Matthews or anyone else to make some big political statement as part of not going to the White House/SOTU.
But if you do go, and (especially) if you miss crucial NHL games to do so, Canadian fans will react. That's not unreasonable or unfair. Be ready for it.
When I was a kid, the super bowl ads were all beer, cola, and Doritos. Then it was dot-coms. A couple years ago it was all crypto. This year is all AI slop, surveillance, and online betting. What a grim reflection of the world the tech oligarchs have wrought.

Maybe AI is really a virus that spreads by making its host talk about how inevitable AI adoption is.
Fantastic excerpt giving a peak behind the scenes of one of my favourite video games ever - I always loved the attention to detail this gameβs creators had - they created some spectacular environments to enjoy (and βplayβ) Beatles music.
The original NES version brings back all kinds of memories - and seeing speed runners completely break the game has been fun as well! (Iβm impressed Slackanaterβs run is still tops in the any% category on speedrun 4 years on).
Microslop
THAT'S RIGHT
Man, even some of my favourite content creators are using gross AI in their thumbnails and videos now. That has been a 100% auto block and unfollow for me up until now but at this rate, I'm not going to have anyone left to follow. Folks I have been following for almost 10 years. Really disappointing
My brother has been down there for over 10 years now, so I stop in when I can (or used to when the US / Can border didnβt seem so weird). Tank 7 was always my fav). I too like KC despite the other nonsense. Crummy, crushing bills loss tonight but afc wide open so who knows, right? Go Bills.
We share Bills fandom and family in KC - Iβve loved having boulevard beers over the last 10 years or so any time I am there (havenβt had that one though - looks great! )
Anthony always has the best analysis when it comes to the Leafs - and todayβs article is spot on as to what is currently wrong in Leafland (and what could possibly fix it).
Again going to bang my drum:
*Even if* gen AI excelled at tasks
*Even if* gen AI had abuse-guardrails
*Even if* gen AI helped the environment & medicine
Itβs still built on scraping the worldβs creative labour without consent.
Gen AI is poisoned at the root.
Not that anyone likely cares, nor does it really matter, but I finally (probably a couple years too late) pulled the plug on Twitter, and will be posting here exclusively. It felt like when my local mall started dying--except with more bigots, creeps, and the bad kind of weirdo.
The frisbee dog at halftime just completed the longest reception of the Bills-Steelers game.
I donβt know if anyone else notices or cares, but when I see a presentation in which the speaker uses obviously generated-AI images to illustrate their slides, it makes me immediately less confident in whatever other content theyβre presenting.
The image shows the teetering Tower of the entire internet with AWS being a tiny little block and then cloudflare being too tiny little blocks under a pile of stuff under that.... And then supporting the whole thing with a tiniest of tiny blocks is Quest 64
I just set up a recruiting profile for my 14 year old soccer playing kid - that doesnβt make me feel old or anything π€£. Anyway, he plays soccer at a really high level - pass the link along to any school contacts you might know, ty. my.sportsrecruits.com/athlete/patr...
I was watching Dweemβs stream that night - like you said, glad everyone was safe. The pictures I saw from the fire are pretty crazy - weβll call them DL2 breath π³ .
Itβs that annual time of year where I am contrasting where I was a week ago during deer hunting to where I am now, at work. I donβt mind my work at all but it canβt compare to watching the sun come up while hanging out in the woods.
βIcicle Kickβ - thatβs funny. Iβm not sure the Canadian Premiere League could have asked for a better marketing opportunity for their championship game! That was fun to watch. Congrats Ottawa! www.bbc.com/sport/footba...
About every half hour today, one of my brain cells says βHey, should we think about that Blue Jays game at all?β and then all the other ones go βNOPEβ and beat the first one to death.
Letβs just go win it next year instead. What a ride. Jays for life. Congrats Dodgers.
"I DON'T NEED YOU TO FUCKING REWRITE WHAT I'VE JUST WRITTEN!"
Haha, yes!
