Should Calgary have a Free Fare Zone? | This is Calgary | CBC Podcasts | CBC Listen Calgary Transit has had a Free Fare Zone along 7th Avenue for decades. It started as an experiment in the late 70s, before we even had an LRT, and has become part of the city's downtown identity. But ...

Great job by @klaszus.bsky.social, who we find out is not “a person of less character”, in providing the history, benefits, and prospects of the FFZ www.cbc.ca/listen/cbc-p...

“Addiction in adolescents isn’t the same as in adults: They’re far more vulnerable to suggestion. Their judgment has yet to mature and they’re less likely to think about what their actions mean over the long haul”

I concur. The free fare zone could be branded as Stampede/Flames (and related sports team) free fare zone. Tremendous year round marketing opportunity to promote all events there.

Globe editorial: The fleeting saving from permanent time In the short term, B.C.’s switch to permanent daylight saving time will be popular. The pains will take longer to manifest

Love how the Globe editorial describes this: “In a 2019 survey of about a quarter-million British Columbians, an astonishing 93% voted in support of permanent summer time. There are very few issues that have such North Korean-like levels of support.”

This is heartwarming: “What I think has sometimes been underappreciated is just what a huge contribution Canada has made over the past decade or even longer, which has really helped to accelerate maternal and child health progress globally.”

I concur with Ximena: “Year-round accessibility isn’t an idiosyncratic nice-to-have, nor an accommodation to be made ex post facto; barrier-free access to our city’s public realm is a fundamental human right all pedestrians should fight for, whether we sometimes drive, wheel or take transit.”

They can fix their application and re-apply in the future.

For a personal finance story, I'm looking to speak with Canadians about transportation costs + housing. Did you buy a more affordable house farther out, then find vehicle costs + travel time added up? Or are you considering transportation in a house hunt? DM or email cailynn.klingbeil@gmail.com Thx!
