Once you've learned to draw from life, THEN it's not so bad to start looking at other artists styles and picking and choosing the aspects you want to incorporate. Gotta build the house first before you start picking out the paint color

If you are developing your drawing skills, I recommend looking at all the different references you can - Photos, animation, anatomical studies, etc - Rather than copying one or two artists. I think this way you will set yourself up better to have a really unique style that's all your own!
