Not that I saw, but the men acted as infantry watching e.g. the south bank of the Rhine until we took Emmerich.
But then - I'm not clear on why - that battery was not deployed for the rest of the war.
The towed troops switched to act as infantry but their Ram towing vehs were used as infantry carriers (don't think they had Kangaroo conversion).
The last battery assisted 1st Corps in the Netherlands.
Had a look at a short history of 6th Canadian Anti-Tank Regiment today, a 2nd Corps unit with towed 17 pounders and 17 pounder Achilles.
In 1945, one of their batteries helped 53rd (Welch) Division fight through the Reichswald in February.
Do you know if at that time there even were ordnance teams set up to dispose of unexploded ammunition? Would he have known?
I understand all of those words but it still doesn't make sense
Wait, what NOW?
Ouch
Thank you! At an event last night I said "If the word hope doesn't work for you try, 'Never fucking surrender.'" The word hope seems too sunny to a lot of people, but the heart of it as I'm interested in it is: we make the future in the present, if we show up, and that never surrender part.
"Pre-1979 is irrelevant ancient history," said no one who knows anything about US, Iranian, or world history.๐๏ธ
Finished this now! A good read.
What astonishes me is that the Germans didn't put in a more concerted effort to sink the tanker. Also that HMS Ledbury was sent off for seeming ages to look for a missing cruiser, and left Ohio, returning later.
I think Malta got really lucky.
Well yes because the US govt keeps making DST longer
Cruel and unusual
Ha, I remember that now!
I'm just more familiar with "erect dummy tanks" or "erect dummy tanks and then swap them for real ones"
Ohhhhhhhh
"There's no airfield here, move along!"
Ok, but was this to fool the German public? I can't really see a military application. We didn't hold off on bombardment because of cattle!
There is a request system on the TPL website
What exactly were they expecting a fake cow to be good for?!?

I've seen things you people wouldn't believe. Bulliten boards on fire in local ISPs. I watched IRC chat rooms glitter in the dark near the CompuServe gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain.
Hahahahaha boo yes lol
unembarrassed enthusiasm about learning new things is genuinely the best way to live
The Americans figuring things out a year after everyone else. The Germans were clear in 1941 that the 37mm wasnโt cutting it. The British noted this after their experience with the M3 tank gun in the Stuart.
This will ALWAYS be funny to me ๐คญ

It should replace That Scottish Play as the one it's unlucky to name
That was fast.... ๐
Unfinished agenda to do what? More nothing?
Truly, a dizzying intellect
