Kind of fucked up and inconsistent how Unicode lumped Chinese, Japanese, and Korean ideograms into a single character set and considered the differences between the languages to be variants of the same character, but then they have distinct codepoints for hentaigana which are unambiguously variants.

Fun fact about those special keys in the top middle: Several of those did nothing on a modern computer but the magnifying glass inexplicably pulled up the calculator, which I actually made use of wire a bit. The Internet button actually did open a new browser window, but that wasn't as useful.

Today is a sad day. The keyboard from the Compaq prebuilt desktop that my parents purchased back in 2003, which I had been using as my daily driver ever since I went to college, has finally bitten the dust. It was a good 23 years 🫡

I'm on my morning walk and saw a bunch of smoke/steam rising down one of the side streets in my neighborhood. Concerned, I walked over to see what it was and it was just condensation from a car's tailpipe. I've been away from the cold for so long that I forgot that that happened lol

One pet peeve I have is when people talk about evolution as if every single feature of all living animals was specifically evolved to serve some purpose. Evolution is a long process of trial and error, and some traits are simply neutral and have no effect on a creature's survivability.
