Hi, will you help my undergraduate RA complete this survey for their research project? The survey includes questions about your thoughts, feelings, online behavior, and general psychological experiences. Itβs only about 15 minute. #psychology #AcademicSky fordham.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_...
I donβt usually measure depression but you might find @esmrepository.bsky.social esmitemrepositoryinfo.con useful
Do people have recommendations for how to measure the construct of depression on a within-day timescale (eg 4x day) for an ESM study? Any favorite measures you all are using?
I read about @runforsomething.net today and it is quite exciting. Please share this widely if you have US followers.
This organisation supports young people under 40 to run for offices across the US.
If you can't or don't want to run, please consider supporting through donations!
I am so sorry :(
Baby held by her mother who is kissing her baby's head.
Did you know that new mothers only have about an hour of their waking day for rest? A study by our psychologists has found this leads to stress, loneliness and emotional exhaustion.

Ha! The original Lancet article on the dangers of reading in bed is here: doi.org/10.1016/S014...
Me waiting for the next fear that those kids wonβt date and have children. Then it circles back to screen time.
Insightful application of self-determination theory.
Interesting, this. Finding somewhere you feel safe and free to feel alone is such an important thing. I've often thought that pottering (just following your own wishes in a space or place) is one of the most fulfilling things in the world. Undirected, goalless time that you don't have to account for
The read into private spaces for solitude has got me talk with a few history professors, which led me to the works of Amada Vickery. We often hear about solitude through writings of educated people, and her work actually describe everyday life of servants and it was very refreshing.
"pottering around" is one of the many favourite British terms that I adopt after moving to the UK.
It's interesting you bring up pilgrimages. While I said that solitude space is a luxury in the past, I wonder many poor folks also find prayer as a space/excuse for their solitude and privacy.
I haven't yet looked into whether there is any SDT research around need-satisfying spaces but you are right there seems to be a connection! Generally when I interviewed people about their solitude space, autonomy & competence seem to be the two themes of what people find satisfying about the space.
ππ»ββοΈme too, except for coffee. I told my friends I donβt need drugs to stay high, just watch me ever stay past midnight when my body crashes into the state of giggling nonstop and saying unhinged things.
New short out on how physical spaces shape our solitude youtu.be/o84fuw4o0D0?...
It is important to note that throughout history, at least ones recorded in European countries, indoor space for solitude is more likely a luxury. What makes a space supportive for solitude? There are a few key factors.
Including Thα» in the name is also a conservative way to name girls because it is literally there just to indicate my gender. It has a misogynistic history so new generations don't follow the tradition anymore. I used to leave it out but later decided to keep it because my parents gave me that name.
What do people do with their "middle" names? My name is Nguyα» n Thα» ThΓΉy Vy. I kept the Thα» bc I thought Nguyen, T.T (aka crying face) is funny. But then UK, US, and Google Scholar among many others are confused how to treat it; is it the middle name? What is the ThΓΉy part? It's been a hassle *sigh*
We just did a literature review on about 30 papers on AI chatbots (not just generative) and effects on mental health and social outcomes; results are quite mixed, dated back to 2020. I am surprised there hasnβt been a surge in psych like covid paper tbh. Mostly in comp sci or medical journals too.
Thanks so much for reposting π Your photos are amazing!

Perspective:
Open-ended responses can improve ESM data by grounding it in real-world experiences and phenomena as they are experienced in everyday life. Handbooks and guidelines on ESM should include sections on collecting and analyzing open-ended text items.
