One big difference is that you can discuss your design, possible improvements with this llm. In contrast, Refine.ink is a one-way conversation. It just lists the weaknesses of your paper.

It’s easier for int. scholars to attend conf’s in the US than in Canada. When APSA notified me in April that my paper was accepted for the Sep. 2025 meeting, the earliest Canadian visa interview was in late Sept. Also, the US gives 10-year visas; Canada typically only for the exact dates of travel.

I agree the review system needs reform. But a bidding model may increase the volume editors must monitor, not reduce it.

How about a small submission fee to deter low-effort slop? Refund papers that clear desk review, give coupons to authors in developing countries.

I understand the first part, but is there a balanced flow of students between NTH and the rest of the EU? The β€˜European approach’ is adjustable and could be modified to preserve student mobility better than a politically unpopular SQ.

I generally support international students and programs. Still, the concern that NTH subsidizes non-Dutch EU students seems valid. In the US, out-of-state students pay higher tuition; in the EU they do not. Why is that, and could it change?

Apply to EuroWEPS 12/13! We're organizing the next EuroWEPS workshops at Bocconi (Nov 14) and EUI (Dec 15) to discuss designs/papers focusing on causal inference. No presentations, just constructive discussions. Early career scholars are especially welcome to apply! Submission deadline is Sep 30

🚨 Very excited to share that the call for papers for the EPSS annual conference in Belfast 2026 is live.

πŸ” Lots of innovation to enrich the way we exchange ideas in political science in Europe.

Interesting. But I would expect foreigners’ responses to vary by their own views on abortion and LGBTQ issues. There are many people holding anti-abortion or anti-LGBTQ views and they used to hate the US for corrupting their societies. Perhaps now they become more sympathetic toward the US.

Message from Meta support: Hi Gil,

Thanks for your response.

Upon checking, this site focuses on political commentary, particularly involving Silicon Valley tech billionaires and their influence on politics.

There are several reasons why a website might be blocked:

1. Content Sensitivity: The site addresses topics like the "Network State" concept and critiques of tech industry figures. Some networks or platforms may flag such content as sensitive or controversial, leading to restrictions.

2. Regional Restrictions: Depending on the country or region, certain political content might be subject to censorship or blocking.

Can you please give me an overview of your website's content? I just want to check further since it's being flagged as non community standards compliant.

Looking forward to your response so that we can sort this out as soon as we can.

Facebook is blocking readers from sharing The Nerd Reich newsletter.

I assumed this was a simple error rather than nefarious censorship.

But Meta support says my newsletter might be blocked because it "addresses topics like the 'Network State' concept and critiques of tech industry figures." πŸ‘€

I often say there's lots of low-hanging fruit where research could answer important qs with well-designed studies, but they don't happen bc of poor incentives, neglected areas, etc.

@ruben.the100.ci suggested writing a thread of 'studies I would fund in a heartbeat'. So here is an ongoing thread.

Sure, do it. Why not? I believe PNAS does it all the time.
