I'm endorsing the fabulous Rachel for deputy leader of the party.
I've been inspired by Rachel from a distance, she's proven herself leading a council and performed brilliantly on TV.
@heathermackbristol
Green councillor for Lockleaze and deputy leader of Bristol City Council, the first Green led core city. Striving to be the change I wish to see in world. Promoted by Ed Fraser, on behalf of Bristol Green Party, both at 17 Great George Street BS1

Endorsement from Heather Mack, deputy leader of bristol city council. There is a photo headshot of her smiling in the top left hand corner under the banner "Rachel Millward Hope Can Win #Rach4Deputy". Beneath the photo is a quote from councillor Heather Mack which says, "I've been inspired by Rachel from a distance, she's proven herself leading a council and performed brilliantly on TV. We need a deputy with leadership skills, media skills, and who appeals to a large audience."
Thank you for your support @heathermackbristol.bsky.social . π

A couple of weeks ago I had a conference in Vilnius, and thanks to the help of your website took a similar route. Overnight from Brussels to Berlin which was very pleasant.
Collision with a cyclist on Redcliffe roundabout this morning. I cycled past. I don't know what happened here, but I've already had three incidents this year of drivers pulling out on me on this round about during my morning commute. Something has got to change! www.bristolpost.co.uk/news/bristol...
On the 23rd, myself and the Vench (Lockleaze adventure playground) and lovely local + Vistry volunteers served Christmas dinner for 75! Special thanks to my mother for all her help, and Vistry for donating the food.

It's brilliant news that more transport powers will be devolved. Local politicians know best what's needed & how to integrate the options locally. Now we need a mayor who will show leadership on this, which is something we've not seen from Labour.
Congratulations @carlybag.bsky.social for the well deserved recognition of your work on night safety! www.bristolnights.co.uk/news/bristol...
I love this! And considering our current obesity and inactivity epidemic the energy being consumed whilst cycling is a good thing for most of us!
With the new liveable neighbourhood making other routes safer and more pleasant I'm going to change my route to go via Victoria Avenue, where it's more overlooked and therefore feels safer. www.bristol247.com/news-and-fea...
News of attacks on cyclists in East Bristol is really unpleasant. But I hope it doesn't put people off! There are so many benefits of active travel, but we need to feel safe and comfortable doing it. I've cycled Netham Park/Feeder route at night for years, but...
Last night I attended a Retrofit West event. Fascinating to learn from all of the experience in the room what we need to do to supercharge retrofit:
βοΈEasy to find, clear information on trusted providers
βοΈAdvice for the average householder on where to start
βοΈFinance available for owner occupiers
Definitely on the cards! Underground sections makes it a lot more expensive, but I'll need to see the full feasibility study to see if it's necessary.
Myself and @cllremmaedwards.bsky.social went to a brilliant West of England Transport Association meeting with tram expert Dr Walmsely. I'm excited about the prospect of bringing trams to Bristol and Bath, we need to create the system and the right environment for the demand to follow!
Whilst access to trans healthcare in the UK is in crisis this is also yet another tragic impact of the Trump election. Trans rights are human rights. www.theguardian.com/us-news/2024...
Hi Joe - I'm hoping you get a direct response soon. I've had this from First Bus
"Thank you for your email. Clearly the situation described would be wholly unacceptable. We take these issues very seriously and I will ask one of the team to fully investigate."
www.bristolensemble.com/precludes-music
Bristol Ensemble's Precludes Music is a fab project, delivering musical opportunities to 4000 children a year. Thrilled to see them in St George's this evening.
Despite the weather there's a good turn out for the vigil for the elimination of violence against women and girls. A sobering fact everyone should know is that a women is killed by a man every 3 days in the UK.
I am so sorry to hear this Joe. Totally unacceptable. Email me and I will ask for an apology from FirstBus Cllr.heather.mack@bristol.gov.uk
He says we need vision, courage and determination to deliver this. I agree!
Cllr Ed Plowden would like solutions that reduce the need for people to own their own cars. We need to remember the transport hierarchy, pedestrians first.
In '91 we had 90k cars on the roads in Bristol. We now have 300k.
@saskiaheijltjes.bsky.social from Cycle Sprog talking about how kids get heavier and more difficult to transport on a bike so we need solutions for bigger kids to feel comfortable on their own bikes.
Chris from the Transport Action Network says we can't deliver traffic reduction by being nice to everyone.
Can't let drivers have universal access and improve buses.
Bristol Nature Network tells us how important it is to make our public transport accessible to all. Not just 9-5 commuters, we need 2 spaces for wheelchairs on buses.
Thrilled to be invited to a fabulous @reclaimourbuses.bsky.social event today. We have a lot of work to do to provide accessible and sustainable transport across the region. Only the Green party is truly dedicated to delivering this.
It will at least be warmer here. But maybe very wet...
Clarkson is a questionable spokesperson on this, he bought a farm specifically to avoid inheritance tax!
I support a tax on wealth and we need to work out how to make this fair whilst supporting our farmers to produce the good food we need in an environmentally and financially sustainable way.
Today I cycled slowly and it was cold so I didn't get sweaty. But there is a shower, hair dryer and drying room in City Hall. Plus well used bike storage, even in a day like today!
