I’ve had to tolerate these “jokes” online for many years now. Knowing that if I spoke out about it, I would be chastised and being told I’m always “No Fun Allowed”, which is fucked up if you really think about it

I know this is a talk as for many on this age of the internet we’re 9/11 “jokes” are the norm. But please, “jokes” like these are very hurtful and it makes me unsure if I can be safe around certain people who might not see me as a real person

As an Iranian American, please don’t make jokes about 9/11 or wars/atrocities involving Iran around me

Just a reminder to please be considerate of those around you, especially your BIPOC peers. You never know what “jokes” you say are actually very hurtful for many of us
