based on my track record with tech hobbies, I know exactly what will happen... but that beamspring keyboard will be worth it.
That's absolutely cool. I think your post has inspired me to get into retro computing.
Just in time for garage sale season!
This, sir, is an absolute thing of beauty! How'd you set it up?
A ANSI 3.4 machine should be compatible with modern Linux. Connect via serial cable (RS-232/USB), match baud rate/8N1 settings on both. Use minicom on Linux to connect. For headless integration, socat can pipe serial data to/from command-line.
Sound right?

Yeah, might as well have an adventure. Plus It won't feel like too big of a change if you are from around Portland.
I wonder how hard it would be to pipe the output to some kind of headless terminal emulator....
<slips into an ADHD fueled fever dream of doing nerdy shit>
The only hard thing about being vegan is meeting other vegans, because contrary to popular memes, nobody talks about it in real life.
It's like being in Fightclub but with tofu and nooch.
Performative outrage is absolutely the MAGA brand π―
And the irony is that they season it with ....plants. π«€
And no, dropping a 'strongly worded' letter in the suggestion box doesn't count.
Me learning German: Misgendering every noun β der, die, das, ein, eine, ein, adjective endings, the whole mess.
Also me: Feels a tiny pang of guilt every time.
Brain: Wait⦠is this guilt a language learning hack?
When I ask about vegan options and the response is salad
my favorite vegan option is standing up and walking out without saying a word.
I miss the PNW so hard, but I'm more happy for you than envious of you. Congrats on the move.
I think the plan is :
We peasant need to buy water from Coca-Cola.
And somehow they are still "animal lovers" π
The differences in tech are almost always iterative no matter how "game-changer" the advertising claims it to be. At least that's my opinion. I'm perfectly happy with my 6 year old vr setup. I'm sure I'd be happy with a quest 2 as well.
I'm still rocking the valve index, I just love the controllers. Plus I think basestation tracking is nice once it's set up.
Good reminder, I haven't played Beat Saber in far too long.
Hopefully they are quick about it, stand alone VR isn't fantastic.
It was either this or Halloween 3
If you're talking about a ceiling fan, you have my condolences. Working from a ladder is no fun.
Just incase anyone else would like a new banner.
it worked in the late 1700s
So here's an idea from the late 1700s
What if we all just decided to not pay for our own oppression?
Oh, any links for we unfortunate souls that couldn't attend, or was this an in-person only thing ?
I agree, I'm not a huge fan of the newer stuff, it just feels like eating garbage instead of having something nourishing. That said, I'm okay with going garbage vegan sometimes, I'd just rather have oreos or something.
I miss the old school garden burgers. It's been way too long, I'm envious.
