I got my annual permission letter from my cardiologist to donate blood. Went straight to the blood center.

Fun demo show for kids, adult kids enjoy too. Proceeds bring students from underserved schools. 240k+ served. TYC is our day job. Voice of David, not Frank. Trying to bring more AAPI content to this site.

@alevickna.bsky.social can't be the only AAPT person with notorious cats.
My first-day exercise is in this month's The Physics Teacher. Among other things, it lets students know that their teacher is a human with interests outside of STEM.
We were interviewed for TV! Tell your friends! And tell them that they can still get tickets for our December shows.

A quick reminder that seats for our December performances are now on sale. Tell your friends. Tickets at: www.thephysicsshow.com
We just put 15,000 Physics Show tickets on sale for Dec/Jan. They make great holiday gifts: www.thephysicsshow.com

Physicist demonstrating conservation of momentum while wearing a tutu.
This month's Physics Teacher has a piece on the Physics Show (doi.org/10.1119/5.02...)! It's great to see our model disseminated. @barnettdreyfuss.bsky.social tells her journey in the American Journal of Physics (doi.org/10.1119/5.03...). We came up in the same ecosystem, it was a joy to read.
Headline from an article in Nature this week that states "Prizes must recognize machine contributions to discovery. The future of science will be written by humans and machines together. Awards should reflect that reality."
Lol the Nobels can't even acknowledge women's contribution to discovery. But sure let's acknowledge The Machines.
An empty theater stage.
We've put away our equipment and cleaned the stage. Over the past two weeks we've done physics outreach shows for 10k+ members of the public and roughly 2500 kids from Title 1 schools.
Lots of school busses.
Second day of field trip shows for kids from Title 1 schools.
Physics performer in front of a large crowd of children.
Today we hosted 800+ kids from Title 1 schools. Let your friends know they can support our science outreach work by buying tickets for our weekend performances. www.thephysicsshow.com
Silicon Valley folks, we will have Physics Show performances for the next two weekends. Tell your friends that they can get seats at www.thephysicsshow.com. Proceeds go towards bringing kids from Title 1 schools to our campus for fun science learning!

Very happy to see this. Fond memory of ud being sent to another room for too much talking during a new physics teachers workshop 20 years ago.

If you are eligible, please donate blood. This is a direct way you can help others. #Give4Life #EverydayBrave
"Let's not take the soul-sucking path of sacrificing the most persecuted for that which we deem to be most popular. I know that there are transgender children right now looking out at this world and wondering if anyone is going to stand up for them and for their simple right to exist. Well, I am."
Failure of reconstruction has no videos attached to the content.
Native American societies before contact has daily video 2 without daily video one. European exploration in America's has daily videos 2 and 3 with no #1.
Interactions between American Indians and Europeans is missing daily video one
Slavery in the British colonies is missing both daily videos one and two while still showing 3
College Board deleted vids for multiple classes on AP Classroom about issues dealing with American Indians, Slavery, Racism, and sexism. For APUSH the first two videos on Slavery in the British Colonies were deleted, videos on Native American societies and Euro conquest, and Reconstruction. #edusky
I'm glad that @aapthq.bsky.social is getting some art. Side note... Norton Dodge, son of AAPT's Homer Dodge, smuggled thousands of pieces of dissident art out of Soviet Russia, which is retold in John McPhee's "The Ransom of Russian Art." It's a quick, fun read.
Man giving blood.

www.linkedin.com/posts/americ... Less serious stuff. These canvases are on display in the @aapthq.bsky.social DC office. @melfromqns.bsky.social and @thephysicsshow.bsky.social helped transport them from the hotel. Photo credit to a friend @aapmhq.bsky.social . Taken after an AIP event.
We are doing a weekend of performances at the end of March. Tickets are at www.thephysicsshow.com. Same setlist as last Dec/Jan.
It's the #DayOfRemembrance. Over the past month I have thought often of my grandparents' lessons. They taught to resist, even if the odds are overwhelmingly against you. Comply when needed, but only when needed. Nurture and protect your communities. They survived, and so will we.

When protestors uttered the slogan βdefund the policeβ the national media had a massive freak out. But now that Trump wants to actually gut the FBI and (it would seem) illegally fire 1000s of people who work there, the same media sees it as a curiosity, a dull bureaucratic matter.
If thereβs one truly American attitude it is fuck you, I wont do what you tell me and we must tap into it as never before
I highly recommend Julia Lee's "Biting the Hand: Growing Up Asian in Black and White America."
