Yes, I start recording when I set up the rig & stop when I come back to collect it. I usually have a quick scan of the recordings when in the field & review them more carefully to extract sounds of interest when back in the office. I generally don't erase anything, and keep all the original files.
A little Rhinoceros Beetle (Dasygnathus trituberculatus) protesting being in the spotlight! This species makes strange squelching, scraping sounds when it feels threatened. Recorded in to Lamington National Park, Queensland.

Yes they're all my own sounds and photos. The only exceptions are in some of my YouTube videos featuring my sounds I have purchased a license to use a stock photo as the background image for that species (in those cases it is noted/ accredited in the video description)

Female Satin Bowerbird perched on a branch. The bird is an olive green colour on the upperparts and has an intricate scalloped pattern and warm yellow on the underparts. She has a striking deep violet coloured iris.
Female Satin Bowerbird - she doesn't have the dazzling glossy ink blue of the male but is still a stunner!

One of Australia’s silliest bird sounds – the calls of the Wompoo Fruit Dove. Despite the lack of vocal grace, they are still one of the world's most beautiful pigeons!
In this sample a group of Wompoo Fruit Doves were having strange gargling conversations while tucking into some rainforest fruit.
Predawn song of a Pied Butcherbird in early spring. Before sunrise at this time of year the song of butcherbirds (and Australian Magpies) is often made up of simpler, more repetitive phrases than the typical full song heard later in the morning - but it's still sublime!

I had a Little Wattlebird for an alarm clock for a season or two right outside my bedroom window, it's mechanical discordant song is still etched in my brain! Channel-billed Cuckoo has to be up there too with the most unloved alarm clock birds.

Afternoon storm at a Lesser Bird-of-Paradise lek in the New Guinea rainforest. Soon afterwards it started to bucket down & it was a mad scramble to pack up & make the dash back to camp - we got drenched but it was worth it to see these incredible birds displaying!
