This is what Badenoch, Farage, the Murdoch press, and Paul Marshall's stable of GB News weirdos want us to get behind, and you know what I'm good, thanks...
Can we stop comparing *any* UK leaders with Churchill please? Thatcher wasn’t Churchill, Boris bloody Johnson wasn’t Churchill, and Keir Starmer wasn’t Churchill.
Even Churchill wasn’t the Churchill everyone imagines.
Just shut up about Churchill.
Despite my issues with Starmer and some of the things he has done I would much rather have him in charge during the current Iran crisis than either Badenoch or Farage.
What those two might do doesn't bear thinking about....

This is very much not Franklin D. Roosevelt that we're dealing with.
Watching Trump’s press conference right now. Nice of him to do a Purim shpeil routine about the UK - Sharia courts, Khan, North Sea energy, windmills and more. I do hope no-one actually believes any of the hilarious joke stuff that he’s saying.
Someone tell the ghost of John Betjeman that there's a new Slough.
"Come, friendly bombs..."
A bit harsh on the Hessian mercenaries, TBH
10/10 No notes.
"We called London a war zone and moved to Dubai by mistake"
A conclusion I am increasingly reaching is that the state of Israel is behaving in a way that demands immense critique and criticism, and also that there is probably no way to have an anti-Israel political movement that does not raise the level of ambient antisemitism to at least some degree.
My jaw hit the floor at this. Then I realised - she's right, insofar as *she* doesn't need international law to mouth off about the a global crisis - BUT the actual PM of a serious nuclear power *does* need to think carefully about international law before making any commitments!
Sorry, too many adverbs in that skeet.
This is what all those ex-pats in Dubai paid their taxes for.
Oh, hang on, they didn't.

The awful thing is, I can immediately think of people I know who would be perfectly capable of finding this story truly relatable
Obviously, there's absolutely no way in which supporting this kind of attitude could possibly come back to bite British Jews in the arse....
Operation “Epic Fury”
A small point, but it would be nice if US military actions weren’t named by a committee of 14-year-old boys.
Certain people: a 52/48 result on a low turnout in a consultative referendum is an emphatic mandate to fuck the country forever
Same people: this massive electoral defeat for us is because woke moslems cheated
As I watched Polanski celebrate, I paraphrased the line Robert Bolt gave Sir Thomas More in A Man for all Seasons “Why Zach, it profit a man nothing to give his soul for the whole world. . . but for Gorton and Denton!”
A fantastic paraphrasing from @nickcohen.bsky.social this morning:
You're a Stannis Stan?
(BTW, is "Stannisstan" what the Westeros Daily Mail would have called King's Landing had Stannis won the war and allowed more than a handful of migrants to settle there?)
Lloyd Bridges in Airplane. And Lloyd Bridges in Airplane.
Restore Britain will, without apology or fear, deport the third world orcs who break into our country, rape young women and then expect the British to tolerate their presence. There is finally a political party that will defend our home, our people, our shires. Restore Britain.
The UK parliament now has an MP who is openly racist and far right. This is, for the current era, new ground, and it will be interesting to see how - if at all – other MPs respond.
Spider-man meme, obvs.
They really are treating Mandelson like royalty, it seems.
That's hilariously misguided - or a deliberate lie.
You cannot understand the origins of antisemitism in Britain, still less how to tackle it today, if you purport to believe that the heritage or experience of Jews and Christians has been a shared and mutual identity across the centuries
Trump is not only the worst human on the planet, but a a black hole for human goodness and decency - everything he does pleases the worst of us and demoralises the best of us. He's everything I hope I'm not.
retro-woke America, 1926
the White House of 100 years ago is, via Wrong Twitter, now saying:
no you're not

"The only way we can defeat ethno-nationalism is by deporting all the black and brown people" suffers from one small logical flaw...
[me, a journalist who spends all day every day on a social media app where the discovery algorithm is personally controlled by its owner, captain birdseye] you know, a lot of people are talking about fish fingers, we should probably cover that
