sometimes living in vancouver bc feels like being trapped in a like 'nature utopia' themed mid-90's Playmobil set and i can never tell if it's beautiful or horrifying
professional game design is similar except with less of the "feeling very good" part lmao
for what it's worth that sounds probably more satisfying haha
absolutely valid. wondering tho: how do u manage to stay with the same studio long term and also not go insane? I'm new to the industry but i always start to resent the project within 6-12months. could be adhd could be my jobs are weak?
more cyberbaby progress for a music vid commission
lmao always forget shareX captures audio...the 'friend' mentioned is not autechre, however much i would love that to be a thing
just pluggin some wires into a gold baby's butthole for a friend's music vid yknow
THANK YOU for taking the time to reply so thoroughly, it is extremely appreciated. i think you nailed it with regards to working for a game studio. love my job but it's pretty hard to spend 8 hours a day in Unity for someone else and then come home and want to open it up again for my own projectπ.
i guess my point: advice on navigating that need to pay rent when you aren't able to fully focus on your own development? id love to apply for grants/publisher help but my shit is always in janky prototype states and i get down on myself
idk if this is more of a dm/whole conversation but: incredibly impressed by your game. i'm a solo dev who thankfully has a good day job but struggle to find the time/energy to work on my own stuff and often feel crushed by needing to survive when i just want to run thru the fields naked and queer
icky...recommendations on email alternatives?
Here are some great actions that we can take today rather than wasting time arguing whether or not we saw what we know we did.
I did not create the below, but find it quite solid:

Designers, dedicate the first and best hours of your day to yourself.
Too often, I see designers putting themselves last, giving their side projects only the leftover energy after a full day of work.
Begin each day by working on your dream.
This small commitment will transform your life.

"david lynch learns flash mx" might still be my favourite of his work. what a profound impact he left on this peculiar mortal plane of ours. "But, as he would say, 'Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.'..."
Count me in! Pass the word.

working on a pretty far-out interactive/game/thing and came across the work of JAMES DUESING who i have now studied as one would study a rare Sumerian tablet. the world more of this energy: surreal & subversive, yet sensitive & perhaps even sophisticated. a lovely reminder to BE BRAVE: BE WEIRD.
