I’ve found some legit neat uses for AI. It’s just a shame the grift ecosystem around it is so out of control.

"One time I made a pie and only used some of the ingredients. Then the next time I only baked it for 15 minutes instead of 40. I keep getting bad results! This is damaging my brand!"
Like I said
I wish there was an 11-inch variant, but once you're down at $600, probably tough to employ the typical Apple price staggering in a way that makes any sense.
And we shall start calling seasons parts, for we must always show disdain for our readers
The real test will be if, in a year and a half, Ghost of Yotei is not on PC and there are no signs it'll come. Which would be silly, because there are people in this world who will not buy a console. And you can either have a few billion more dollars or not have a few billion more dollars.
Sony "pulling back from PC" is funny because... to hold games back from a platform, you have to release them first. "Sony hasn't put a game on PC in a while." Sony proper has put out few games in the past year to even *consider* for PC. And their big hitters (like Ghost) are never day-and-date.
I just took a stroll through Google Discover for the first time in a while. Scroll, scroll, scroll. For like two minutes, searching. There are some sites in here that used to be regulars that I do not see anymore.
Concerning.
As an Eagles fan, I'm getting "Juan Castillo" vibes. There was a year where the Eagles let go of their defensive coordinator and made the *offensive line coach* the defensive coordinator. It went about as well as you'd expect.
Classic fail-up!
HFW being four years old already... hurts. Probably more than anything on this list, because how's it been that many years already?
"There's a new Final Fantasy 9 coming!"
me: *clicks*
"HAHAHAHA you IDIOT IT'S A BOOK"
I don't want to wish ill on anyone but I will make an exception for whoever is pushing these headlines
I don't believe these things to be that similar. The blockchain hype, the metaverse hype — neither of these things had escape velocity. They were hyped but didn't enter most peoples' day to day. This is waaaay different. I'm not even a die-hard booster for it but it's tough not to see the writing.
I hope you're right, but something can always fill the gap. No Destiny, so I've been playing more Halo Infinite here and there because, gasp, it doesn't equate Linux to "the platform with all the cheaters on it." And I have yet to run into cheaters.
Co-sign. What was my desktop gaming PC has been under my TV running Bazzite for about 2-3 months. Finally reached a "no" point with Windows. Some games (hi Destiny 2) were collateral damage. But honestly... if you're going out of your way to NOT work on Linux, why give you the time of day?
Don't know if we can ever get back what was lost, but for me, I'm making purposeful moves away from those types of companies where I can. If it's up to me, small, scrappy and weird all the way.
Not to say there aren't people still doing cool things — there definitely are. But they're not steering the ship. That honor goes to the companies that traded in their mad scientist goggles for "contact us" enterprise tiers.
But they weren't always that. We were in this wonderful spot — just for a bit — where the companies driving the internet were weird. They experimented, put out cool products, and viewed the internet not solely as an engine for commerce or "the thing that will run your life" but as a blank canvas.
Remember when the internet was fun? Something I've been thinking about lately. A lot of the companies, the services we interact with daily -- they all came up around the same time and they all sort of reached the same conclusion at the same time: "We need to become world eaters."
Best case scenario, the robot uprising starts with Roombas.
Aw man. I think I had higher hopes for the title. Those recipes better not be as bland.
Crazy we went from this to "my watch is a tiny computer that can make and receive phone calls" in a span of time that still makes me uncomfortable but didn't involve me becoming elderly.
I read something the other day about it not selling well -- to me, it would track. Phones are already pretty thin! And you have to sacrifice battery to go more thin.
I think they should have gone in the other direction. iPhone Brick. Fattest battery ever. Barely legal to take on a plane.
