IMO, I think Pete wants to be a Met.
If that is true, he should really keep in mind what Strawberry said was the biggest mistake of his life.
If Pete wants to be a Met, he needs to find a way to make it work and possibly leave money on the table.
I could be wrong but, I would have to imagine that after losing Soto…the price for NYY’s to get free agents or get any trades done probably just went up. Other GM’s/FA’s have the leverage.

Understood. I’m of the mindset of solidifying the starting rotation first with guys who can give you a complete season. Don’t want to count on someone who may or may not be ready by the Allstar break. If there is room in the budget after that, I’m fine with it.
That’s one way to look at it. Me personally, I wouldn’t go that route with the current NYMs roster.
To me, that’s only a move you make if you already have an abundance of SP pitching already. NYM’s don’t. I’d rather spend the $’s right now on an arm who can potentially give us a full year.
What I want for Christmas is the accuracy in reporting to take precedence over being first to report it.

I am in the (“I want Juan Soto”) camp. If he takes less money and goes somewhere else I’ll be fine with it because to me it just means he didn’t want to be a Met.
I hear ya, I don’t think it’s personal. It’s a business and ultimately I want players on the Mets who actually want to play for the Mets. At the end of the day it’s nothing we can control 🤷🏻♂️.
