trying to write something that has its own magic system, would love if anyone has any recs for fantasy! either a modern setting that involves magic or something with a developed original magic system, or both!

A screenshot of youraislopbores.me. The prompt was "draw me the annual reports" and the "ai" drew a graph with a character next to it holding up a thumbs up.
love this new fella

Frame #10923 from 50s E28-29 the magic wand
i had a friend as a kid who loved animal movies but thought ones were cats were the villains were like, morally evil. thinking about it now she wasn't wrong about the pro-dog propaganda but i won't approve of her blind patriotism for cats
i adore them
I really liked Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion, which may be in part a function of how much I love worldbuilding. (How much? I read the entire Baroque Cycle, thatβs how much.) what a shame that he never wrote any other books in that universe huh
A graphite drawing of nude man seen from the side, seemingly tumbling backwards in midair, with some sort of strange organic growths sprouting up out of his chest in dramatic, decorative curves.
Adding this drawing to my watercolor painting queue, to start once I finish my current paintings. π
Here come the line art kitties!

that i'm from *here*
also i've now heard three or four cities across three states claim "jeet" ("did you eat") is unique to their local dialect and, well, i won't burst that bubble for them
i so prefer "yinz" to "y'all" but using it feels like implying that i want people to think i'm from pittsburgh. like i don't have anything against pittsburgh and don't mind if they think that but why would i want to *lie* that i'm from here
remember*, not tenderness
i have to tenderness when im creating i'm creating for someone who will take it seriously and not someone whose attention i need to keep grabbing over and over, or who needs the salient points bolded for quick access
This guy gets it.
Key art for "Don't Hug Me I'm Scared" on Dropout shows its title along with its three principal puppet characters in picture frames.
one of my all-time favorite weird and wonderful shows - DON'T HUG ME I'M SCARED - is now on dropout!
full web series now; TV series (which less people have seen) over the course of the next few months. big thanks to blink industries, becky, and joe for their faith in us.
we aren't made/taught to think of things that can act as not having wants and intentions. unfortunately up til this point we haven't been at risk of letting c elegans put people in jail either
for real though you have to put out of your mind that AI is sentient. i need someone slightly more brave and/or obnoxious than me to make the graphic for "instead of say 'it wants to do X,' try say 'it's optimized to do X'" because the neutral language is helpful but also very hard to keep at hand
Fullmetal Alchemist - Brother's Lullaby
Uni rarely makes biscuits, so when he does, it makes me so happy
is it a good thing that anytime i get a new follower with a human face i assume it's a bot and have yet to be proven wrong

i think LLMs are fascinating technology with a number of likely use cases when that technology is further refined, but it doesnβt really bode well that a not-insignificant number of enthusiasts and even pioneers in LLM R&D exhibit varying degrees of superstitious belief regarding their sentience
- problem for robot: robot needs to distinguish non-robot use cases of name. like they already thought the humanizing-servant thing was a higher priority than "what if someone in the house is named alexa"
(i know there's a built-in workaround but the thing is called alexa)
- makes it weird to be named robot name. influences human name trends
- associations with robot become associations with name. and rn the claudes of the world are owed recompense
- honestly just weird to ask people to temporarily forget the robot isn't a person while asking it to do servant shit
ai has a lot of problems we've all given a lot of words but my big problem? stop giving them human names. it makes it weird for everyone. and it's actually worse if they do well as products.
I hear the Miniature Counterfeiters' Guild is accepting new applicants, if you're looking to make a little coin
