In shock news, the US Secretary of War doesn’t understand war.

I've just written to @newstatesman1913.bsky.social. This is only the 2nd letter that I have written to a national publication. The first was in December 1995 to @autocarofficial.bsky.social (sent by email while deployed in the Balkans). It was pretty frivolous but they very kindly published it.

Yes. As @mrjamesob.bsky.social was saying on air a couple of days ago, it's all about cruelty (he may have used a slightly different word but the meaning was very similar).

I am in Bath. One of the best weather forecasts for me is to look towards @brunelsbridge.bsky.social. If I can't see it I am probably going to get rained on pretty soon.

Tories arguing that Churchill should be on banknotes rather than Otters, because of WW2, are showing their ignorance.

Here's a photo of an Otter participating in the fighting in Italy. I don't see Churchill in this photo.

Shame can be a destructive emotion, but this is what a culture without shame looks like.

And it's consistently rewarded and indulged.

Gen. Grynkewich: "What I've observed over the course of studying air power in history is that any time you attack a civilian population, you usually end up finding that it just hardens their resolve."

Incredible self-own from the US president here, suggesting he's unable to keep his streets safe, even in comparison to the streets of a country he is presently bombing.

Can anyone explain to me why SWR tells me that a "Seat reservation is mandatory for this journey" when:

a. Seat reservations are no mandatory (thus making their statement a lie).

b. Seats cannot be reserved (thus proving by having that warning statement that they are incompetent).

BBC - The Editors: How to say: Hezbollah A guide to words and names in the news, from Martha Figueroa-Clark of the BBC Pronunciation Unit.

Yes, I know that there are much more important things going on, but the thing that is really annoying me right now are the people (journos and presenters and commentators) who keep saying Straits of Hormooooze and Hizbullah. Please please will someone have a word with them.

I know that Wiltshire and Dorset are next door to Somerset, and I also know that when it comes to Peers there are probably more important issues to deal with, but as a start I think that all the Dukes (30) and Earls (189!) and Marquesses (34) must have to live in the place that is in their title.

There was a moment (it was brief but it was there) back in 2019 (ish) that I thought Tugboat Tom was a secret LD. It didn't take him long to get that thought permanently out of my head.
