We are forcing them to change. The way the grid is managed right now services the fossil fuel owning hedge funds who keep dirty oil plants in their portfolios. It is not set up to help us transition to clean, renewable energy. SO! The Consumer Liaison Group meets 4x a year. The next one is in March!

The group used to be industry insiders and it was just a way for ISO-NE to tell them how things are going, share reports, etc. Not exciting. Then we infiltrated the group by electing our friends to the coordinating committee! Now ratepayers are actually getting to air their concerns, ask questions..

So #NoCoalNoGas has been taking our objections about the electricity grid directly to the groups that manage and oversee regional markets. The entity is called ISO-NE. They just so happens to have one public forum where we can freely attend: it’s called the Consumer Liaison Group. Stay with me..

We have the means to transition to clean energy, to implement conservation efforts that reduce energy use, and to transform our electric grid into one that works for the people, instead of one that pollutes our communities and our planet. We will #DoWhatMustBeDone to build a better grid!

3) for a while this goal was to shut down the coal plant in Bow! This goal we won in 2024 with the announcement of a shut down date and clean energy transition plan. Now our goal is to transition all the fossil fuel peaker plants to clean energy or battery power. Especially the oil plants.

2) show what is possible. Both for ourselves and the greater community. We liberated coal from the last coal fired power plant in New England, blockaded coal trains, made a 180-foot banner to hang off a smokestack. We showed that if people in power won’t act then we are prepared to. Together.

We are the #NoCoalNoGas campaign! We came together in 2019 to form a community of resistance to fossil fuels. We have three goals.
1) build community and unity. This is the most important to us because we know to stop fossil fuels and transition to clean energy we need to rely on each other.
