last night I was filming on {REDACTED} and we were given lanyards for identification purposes and I said "LOL, we're the lanyard class" and everyone looked at me as if I just started slurring my words pending a massive brain aneurysm because as it turns out I'm way too online.

a lot of the problems with this administration come down to the fact that the people in charge seem to believe we are living inside an action movie

Food prices could rise as Iran conflict disrupts fertilizer supply chain The Iran conflict is disrupting fertilizer shipments through the Strait of Hormuz, raising supply concerns and potentially increasing global food inflation.

I know the interagency planning process is slow & cumbersome, but it’s really important to have all the stakeholders at the table so they can flag stuff like this:

β€œOver 1/3 of global fertilizer trade moves through the Strait of Hormuz and disruptions are hitting during the spring planting season.”

Fishback is tapping into an increasingly radicalized generation of Republicans. In December, the conservative Manhattan Institute found that 31 percent of Republicans under 50 identify their own views as racist, and 25 percent say their views are antisemitic. For those over 50, it’s only 4 percent for each. The same survey showed that a majority of Republican men under 50 think that the Holocaust either didn’t happen or was exaggerated.

Absolutely stunning statistic here

You shouldn't ever believe anything axios prints. Like literally nothing. Don't even post it as if it's legitimate in any case no matter what they're talking about because they're not legitimate and they're not credible.

I just keep coming back around to, "there is a reason that no previous president did this foolish thing and it was not because they were weak, woke cowards, but because they could read a cost-benefit analysis."

it really just comes down to entitlement, they feel entitled to winning wars because they represent β€œwestern civilization” and theyre fighting against β€œshithole countries” and thats about as much thought as they put into it

This is where I am, gender-wise. I have heard that a lot of ace-spec ppl are just ambivalent about their gender, and that rang true to me. I am comfy as a woman, but don't really understand the big deal. Cross dressing doesn't feel like anything.

I'm trying so hard to be resilient, but maybe I just need to just allow myself to feel broken for a bit.

specifically, there are a large number of DC people who think of the white working class specifically through the lens of graham platner, a guy cosplaying being white working class

It is commonplace to keep "politics" to yourself, even when "politics" means love your fucking neighbor.

And then The Atlantic can "just ask questions" til we walk straight into a fascist takeover.

The opinions people have in public move the needle on the opinions people have, at all.

The aforementioned leaders have come out saying they have NOT ended the Target boycott, they were NOT contacted for the original Star-Tribune story this is based on, and the boycott is still very much in effect.

So many red state races are something like..

Democrat: War hero with a master's degree in public policy who was caught on camera running into a burning building to rescue orphans.
Republican: Adjudicated sex pest who inherited dad's car dealership.

Election result: R +18

I love that we have such a deep trove of literature that you can come up with what feels like an original question and someone will respond with a 12th Century discussion.

People draw courage from knowing they have people around them who agree with them. Even if the middle class homeowners with the sign aren't doing any activism (which, you actually don't know about them, normie "wine moms" have been pretty active) it lends courage to ppl to become activists.

I think people get confused. The problem with virtue signalling is that it can *replace* actual action on a problem. Especially from corporations who are being asked for policy changes. But most people aren't activists! An environment with lots of virtue signaling is fertile ground for new activists

it is, as I've often said over the years, a court rather than an administration - these men are courtiers whose power is largely dependent on their ability to flatter when in the presence.

ASMR isn't necessarily sexual, but a lot of it plays with intimacy and sensuality in ways that approach sexuality. Instead of questioning the stigma surrounding sex work, a lot of ASMR fans try to distance themselves from that stigma in ways that intensify it.

the 'jesus was fictional' stuff backprojects *our* cultural beliefs about the importance of Jesus into the 1st century AD. 'there was a local teacher/preacher in Palestine called Josh' was not an unusual thing!

This feels like MORE WORK
FOR MOTHER by Ruth Schwartz Cowan, which explored the irony that many of the technical advances in housework and the kitchen did nothing to ease the burden on women but instead increased it.

one of the most interesting arguments I've seen for the historical existence of Jesus was that if there was not an underlying real guy from a particular place, the Bible would not need to go to the effort it does to explain why a guy from the other side of Judea fulfilled the prophecies

The quote I always think of is very obvious, but it still makes me laugh.

β€œIt's unpleasantly like being drunk."
"What's so unpleasant about being drunk?"
"Ask a glass of water.”
