Oh: Also still very attached to Winnipeg, and Hellebuyck is easily one of the most prominent Winnipeggers.
If any other important Winnipegger had a high-visibilty visit to the White House, they'd get questions when they got home.
Lotta hockey fans and media shouting "move on." Hey, I live at the intersection of this stupid sport, politics and policy. Sorry!
Connor Hellebuyck has been hiding from Canadian journalists for two weeks. The strategy has probably worked. I doubt anybody who will eventually have access to him will have the time or energy to get into his views on the 51st state or other MAGA threats to Canada.
It's amazing people will claim "Canada and the USA have the same culture" and then on something as fundamental as "do you trust your fellow citizens to be good" we are further apart than any other two countries
So Philip Glass just joined TikTok. He only has like 4 posts and theyโre simply him in what I assume is his living room playing the piano. First comment on one I saw was โyour piano is too close to the fireplace, youโll dry it outโ and if thatโs not the internet in a nutshell I donโt know what is.

"U.S. military investigators believe it is likely that U.S. forces were responsible for an apparent strike on an Iranian girls' school."
"The strike would rank among the worst cases of civilian casualties in decades of U.S. conflicts in the โMiddle East."
Kathryn May: Carneyโs deputy minister shuffle raises national security questions policyoptions.irpp.org/2026/03/carn...
This is a profound continental divide. Canadians overwhelmingly view other Canadians, even those unlike them, as being good people. Americans, more than any other country, view their neighbours and fellow citizens as bad people. Anti-Americanism flourishes in the United States

So Hellebuyck has now interviewed with Fox News, TNSE in-house, and now the Tkachuk bros, before taking a single question or interview from any local Winnipeg media? Hello?
Overheard in the concourse on the way out: ยซย Which was your favourite icing?ย ยป
The Crunch just scored on a well-played 3 on 1 and I accidentally cheered, I was so happy something happened.
The hockey is better when thereโs hope.
I have the fancy starts at zero scoring chances, hardly any shots, barely any pass completions, and 5 tackles.
The Syracuse Crunch and Laval Rocket have just played the most boring period of hockey Iโve ever witnessed.
This includes my year coaching Atom C.
The history of the PQ shows theyโre unlikely to try.
A figure with the long term trends for support for the Quebec sovereignty movement. Itโs hovered around 40% For a long time.
This graphic from @patrickdery.bsky.socialโs substack gives you an idea.
You should check it out. Patโs a Francophone writing in English from a very sharp (and sometime cutting) point of view.

Back when I was a reporter covering Quebec politics, we didnโt pay much mind to sovereignty unless it was in the 40s and trending upward. I think that happened once in the sponsorship scandal timeframe around 2004ish.
Quebec sovereignty has dipped below 30% support, the lowest level since 1995.
Of note, this is a Lรฉger poll. Around here, the firm is generally trusted to be in tune with Quebec public opinion.

Canada doesnโt have a position on the Iran strikes, it has a superposition.
This Carney statement is puzzling. If, as he says, we must accept "the world as it is" โ including the purported failure of previous diplomatic efforts and of the international order โ then why call for a diplomatic solution, de-escalation, and respect for international law?
If I understand this correctly the prime minister regrets having to take a position in favour of a military strike that is a violation of international law.
Now I feel bad for wishing Heinola had stayed in instead.
I am here to tell you that British Columbia effectively moving to Mountain Time is bad and wrong. The Yukon has already taken this leap and friends, it makes no sense!
This is a fun issue because people who agree with each other on everything else will disagree to the death on this one.
Several points:
1) Iran's regime is odious. Its citizens deserve support.
2) That does not mean an attack will help.
3) Canada will find it hard to be so selective in its support for international law.
4) Canada does not benefit from a US administration unbound by the US constitution.
Canadaโs immediate support for the Iran attack, and the surprise with which I think many are responding to it, is kind of a reminder that despite our Prime Ministerโs oratory prowess, the philosophy behind our foreign policy is still rather hard to pinpoint.
Quick reactions after learning that no, nobody could stop him. 1/ goodauthority.org/news/trump-m... 1/
