also anyone who tells me Times New Roman is the correct font for writing scholarly papers is WRONG. it is TOO pretentious and OVERUSED. CAMBRIA is the superior font

i've been on a typography binge and iirc there's a comic out there called Helvetica that i read a million years ago, it made characters based off of type fonts and i wanna build off that and make some type of story similar to that so badly but with a different premise
i've used the sob emoji three posts in a row on this account i need to change up my rotation so i seem like less of a depressed academic. even though 99% of my daily life is wanting to cry over deadlines
disrespectfully fuck free trials i always ALWAYS forget to cancel and then i get charged money i dont have π surprise charges never leave me ALONE
have been taking a lecture class this semester on west african art and it's been so awesome to learn stuff in that class...only problem is that i wish i could have taken it at a time where im not working on 1 trillion other things in the bg so i can take the research and inspo undisturbed π
proposal is done and iβm so mad i was taught about particular art history methodology today that i could have put into my proposal to make it stronger π whatever. iβll take my semiotics somewhere else if i donβt get the grant later this semester
correction: to get it done by TOMORROW because apparently they added another new requirement under my nose to get several signatures I HATE THIS SHIT
iβve barely written a thing past the abstract and iβm this close to pulling an all nighter just to finish the methodology section because i have had no time π i wish i could just tell them that i barely have an idea right now which is why i WANT to travel for research, so that i can get better ideas
oh wait now i can complain about school now. writing this grant proposal under a severe time constraint is actually misery. i have one red bull left and a dream to get it done by thursday afternoon (not NIGHT. AFTERNOON. 4 PM)
Aaron Douglas's piece, "Defiance," as part of his Emperor Jones series. A black and white block print of a man in a uniform, standing with his legs slightly bent and aiming a gun towards the left. He stands above a layer of water with two fishes swimming in the opposite direction he faces, while foliage and large, bold black bolts surround his sides and above him, respectively.
Aaron Douglas's canvas painting, "Aspiration." Three figures are positioned on a pedestal and look towards the background, with the middle figure pointing towards a built metropolis above a mountain. A star is brightly lit in the middle right, illuminating the background and the figures. Each figure hold tools of the trade or sciences. In the shadowed foreground, hands cuffed with chains are held up to the audience's view.
my icon right now might or might not be temporary but it's of Aaron Douglas's "Defiance" print from the The Emperor Jones series, and my banner is of his canvas painting "Aspiration." He's one of my favorites stylistically!
welcome to my twisted mind (filled with art history brainworms)
here is my alt account for history of the arts and culture! my studies are specifically in Black/African American art and of the African Diaspora in the 20th Century. I like works that focus on the specific identity of Black Americana.
