U.S. federal safety investigators have located the ‘black box’ recorders from the wreckage of a UPS cargo plane that crashed in flames on takeoff from the airport at Louisville, Kentucky, killing at least 12 people.

It appears the earlier secondary eyewall merged with the primary eyewall quickly, similar what happened in Hurricane Milton. That merger may have paused intensification, but Melissa appears to be making its move to Cat. 5 tonight. Certainly has that look. Next set of recon. missions will be telling.
Soggy to the core after the last couple days. Wind and waves. Leaves to rake and sans power for twelve hours. But I sure do love the beauty that comes with the storm!

A barrage of cloud-to-ground lightning produces a pink glow under the cloud deck and casts a purple hue off the low cloud base. The stunner for me- a bright center bolt cutting through the scud. Just amazing. Captured indoors at a responsible distance. Probably could do some more work on this- but I love this moment. Mono no aware.
