“Good economics” means periodically throwing millions of people out of work in order to keep wages down. “Good economics” means forcing global South countries to operate as subordinate suppliers in commodity chains rather than producing for national development. Etc.
People need to understand that, in mainstream Western institutions, “good economics” does not mean what’s best for meeting the needs of working people, but what’s best for ensuring capital accumulation and imperial hegemony. That’s it.
The scientific colonialism of past centuries continue to this day - when global South scientists are chronically and pervasively sidelined from global research & policy agenda …
