Act 2 of Demacia Rising is live!
"Why haven't fighting games died yet?"
I wrote about the unique strengths of the fighting game genre that have allowed fighting games to survive multiple generations of evolution intact, and why you didn't fall in love with a product. Warning: This is a long one.

After 9 yeareals, it's finally my turn to post the "a thousand cereals" clip, seeing as how I'm the idiot who made it.
The Game Bakers motto, their design philosophy, is simple: โWe make games like we cook.โ
I've been using slow cooking as a metaphor all week because the urgency culture in the air is wild rn
That said- Iโm immediately looking for my next role! I am:
- remote or CA based
- 18 year veteran
- looking for principal designer, lead, manager, director roles
- love souls games, ARPGs, and MMOs
- expert systems designer, esp gear, progression, economy, skills
- easygoing, skilled communicator
i just wanna make a few specific elements a tiny bit smaller; i don't want toggles i just want like 80% size LOL
game is very fun, i'm excited to grind it in a week
Please do there's so many good uses for it rn
The EVO situation is dire.
digital drawing by me (floon) of my fem viera wol from ffxiv wearing a red and black dress, sitting, with a textured background with rose and sparkle doodles
doodle while i mope about m11s ;w;
while i've not been an Xbox user for a very, very long time, XGS has so many wonderful teams.
i do not await the several additional game industry crashes that come from xbox as a division likely failing to meet rising targets and its eventual dismantling b/c it can't become rev-positive-enough
regarding the recent news

Animation reference of the gods
IOI makes wonderful games and 007 is looking to continue that trend! Super excited to see what else y'all have cooking.
Thank you so much! It'd been 8 years since I'd Launched a Game; the feeling hits different with time lol
It's fun how everything comes back around, starting from "hey you remember those like, flash game / online kingdom builders from like '09? can we do THAT?" was a fun pitch deck
got the melancholy posting out of my system, time to go play deadlock for four hours or something lmao
this is the exact reason why i keep NOT giving talks despite REALLY wanting to, culling the verbosity that exists deep within my soul, the desire to provide every tiny detail, the effortless stream-of-consciousness that springs forth on any tiny passion
it's uh
a problem
good luck buddy lol
It was honestly really hard for me to play Demacia Rising on my real account; playing it was acknowledging the end. I dreaded it, avoided it for weeks.
It's so tough to enjoy your own work. You see all the flaws, the could-haves, the undone bits. But, I'm so unbelievably proud of what we all made.
I was so incredibly unconfident it was going to work in December. The holiday break was the deepest pit of despair and anxiety.
The reception to it has provided an incredible joy but also a deep, bittersweet melancholy, because I know I have to leave it behind and move on.
It's so easy to lose yourself in the process of creating a thing, in being a part of the whole that puts these things together.
Games are made by people; they are creations of love, joy, self-expression, passion, pain, sorrow, frustration - i truly believe they reflect our humanity as creators.
I won't get to WORK on it like I got to work on Demacia Rising.
There is just so much of me in this game. Who I am as a designer AND a person. There's so much of everyone who worked on it in it. Every single person has at least something there that's a tiny distilled essence of their soul.
Demacia Rising is similar to a lot of things, but it's unique since it's ultimately a progression system wrapper for a season of League.
There's nothing quite like it. Sure I could go play Total War, Civ, HOMM, or Against the Storm for another thousand hours, but it's different.
I'm so glad to have had a product manager who believed in this kind of game, who got us time and a team.
I'm so glad to have support to try and execute my wild vision; the most complicated thing we'd ever made.
I'm so happy to have worked with all of the incredible people I got to on this.
