True as always. In some cases, for certain Eastern European countries it was the promise of better in a post Soviet world that never truly materialized and somehow now seems worse. I’m in no way excusing it (it’s dumb on any number of sides) but it’s a complicated thing and the propaganda is thick.

It shouldn’t require that long a memory for Slovaks or Czechs. My in-laws are Canadian in part because of Russian tanks rolling into their town…and yet.

Keep an eye on Slovakia as well, my in-laws came from there and I’ve been and sadly there are very similar to Orban’s Hungary now.

An odd one. Picked up as a lot from the Toronto reference library sale. Here’s the actual cover👇 One of Monk’s very last recordings in the UK on Black Lion Records. Monk battled mental health issues much of his life. This tour he simply stoped talking. Yet, this somehow sounds joyous, even humorous.
