I would have expected everyone not in the CDF (in the colonies, elsewhere in the CU) to make getting access to this technology a central goal. In any case, Scalzi has been a big discovery for me and I'm excited to explore his other books. And I can't wait for book 7 of OMW in September!
In the last couple of months, I've read the 6 books of @scalzi.com's Old Man's War series. I've enjoyed them enormously. The one thing that keeps puzzling me about the series is that there's basically a (rationed) way to reach immortality, yet it's not a big driver of conflict in the plot.
