NC Triangle DSA 🌹

The American Empire is a crime against humanity and a road to ruin. By unleashing endless war, death, and immiseration against the people of the world, our ruling capitalist class isolates all of us. American workers are increasingly and inevitably feeling the consequences of an economy built on the spoils of a decaying empire for the benefit of the few over the many. Long-term peace and prosperity can only be reached with policies rooted in mutual respect, solidarity, and peaceful cooperation between peoples. Under socialism, we will end the era of imperialism, and transform our failing blood economy into one that serves human needs.

Triangle DSA condemns and stands firmly against all acts of war with Iran and further demands an immediate end to all infringements on Iranian sovereignty, including the sanctions that weaponize poverty as a form of collective punishment. Additionally, we demand an end to all forms of US support or recognition for its apartheid military colony, Israel. We instead demand full support and recognition for the independence and sovereignty of the Palestinian people over all of Palestine. The Iranian people have stood in solidarity with Palestine, while the US and Israel have instead attempted to erase Palestinian sovereignty through genocide.

History has consistently demonstrated that the people of the world will not tolerate subjugation by foreign powers. American bombs did not change this fact in Vietnam or Afghanistan, and neither American nor Israeli bombs will succeed in subjugating the Iranian people today. The fascist Trump administration deceptively frames military aggression against Iran as a matter of "national security." In reality, the only US interests threatened by Iran are military assets deployed by our ruling class to enforce Western dominance over the Middle East and its resources.

In 1953, the United States and United Kingdom backed a coup d’état that overthrew Iran's Prime Minister, Mohammad Mosaddegh, after he sought economic sovereignty by nationalizing the country's oil industry. In his place, they installed a dictator, the Shah. When the Iranian people launched a revolution in 1979 and overthrew this US-backed dictatorship, the US responded with nearly half a century of military, economic, and other asymmetric warfare. This ongoing aggression aims to reinstate hegemony over the region and punish the Iranian people for their resistance, ultimately for the benefit of Western elites.
