Octoberβs been such a fun month β I took a little break to enjoy the fall! π I also shared some thoughts on designing the Aether cami, plans for upcoming video tutorials and a new pattern, plus a peek at the Halloween costumes I made for my kiddos π

- Experience: our digital instructions is made for easy navigation, whether you like following step by step or jumping back and forth as you sew.
This pattern is a big part of our vision of making interesting patterns for the curious and whimsical sewists, and I'm so proud of its release! (3/3)
For this pattern we've been fine-tuning:
- Fit: a fuller bust, or shorter/taller than that βstandardβ body, the pattern is customized to your own measurements.
- Instructions: thereβs always that one corner youβre not sure whether to trim or keep, so weβve made sure to spell it out clearly. (2/3)
Hey friends! The Aether top & dress pattern is finally here β¨ With its gently unexpected asymmetric hemline, the top is a quick sew, while the dress brings in an adjustable tie wrap plus a sneaky side pocket π.

I'm so, so excited to share this one because -- (1/3)
My latest video tutorial is on digital patternmaking βοΈ The drafting tool, SeamScape, is 100% free. In this first episode, I walk through the tools + show how to draft a simple side pocket. Ready to ditch your pen + paper?

Julyβs wrapping up, and Iβve been quietly working away behind the scenes at WildCress. Here's our first-ever newsletter!

Our Crescent skirt pattern is designed to consist of mostly rectangles to help you self-draft, but now a faster way is coming up -- we're very excited to release our custom pattern generator in beta. It's super simple -- just enter your measurements, and within seconds, you'll get a projector-ready PDF file with all pattern pieces drawn to size in your preferred format. For projector sewists, this can save tons of time otherwise spent measuring and marking notches manually. Try it now for your (free) Crescent pattern: π wildcress.com/b/crescent P.S. The same idea applies to A0/A4/US Letter, but we'd like to spend some more time on paper efficiently before releasing our pattern generator as printed formats. Stay tuned!

Hereβs a quick pattern testing report for #crescentskirtwildcress, answering a few curious questions you might have:
β What does skirt length have to do with overlap?
β Can you skip a muslin and fit on the fly?
β How easy is it to find a pocket in all those pleats?

The Crescent Skirt patterns has been vetted enough by me and our talented testers over the past few weeks, and it's finally ready to go public π Come try it -- it's free with newsletter signup! #sewsky #garmentsewing #sewing
#patterntesting is THE most stressful stage of my entire pattern creating lifecycle -- my body even responds with a low-grade fever every time π . Being online for questions, feedback, and that anxiety burn of how itβs receivedβ¦ Still trying to talk myself out of it, but maybe thereβs no magic cure.
It's so sad to see lots of blogs with great content not being active any more, almost like I'm looking at the remains of a past civilization.
Whipped up a quick #sewingtip video on reducing french seam bulk when #sewing a double turned hem! It's a real issue but I can't find anyone talking about it. Maybe everyone else just use super light fabric for french seams like the textbook says π

The Crescent is ready for testing! A modern interpretation of the historical Hanfu/Mamianqun, this #sewing pattern is custom-fit and draft-your-own, so be ready for some adventures! Testing is not paid (yet), but you'll get our Swan bag pattern as a thank-you. To sign up: forms.gle/Mh2aQtePH1K1...
Been #sewing a youth-sized wearable toile for the crescent skirt! A few more details are in the tweak, but this is exactly what my model wantedβ"like a science experiment!"

Hey #sewsky! Just built a #sewing unit converter 𧡠Good for #DIY and #crafting too!
Built-in error margins, clean UI, and no more math headaches!
Try it π wildcress.com/unit-converter
Also thinking of making a browser extension that auto-converts measurements on webpages. Would that be helpful?
I really want to stop looking up how to miter corners every time I do one, so I made a super quick tutorial explaining how mitering works for uneven corners. Hopefully itβs also the last tutorial you ever see on mitering!

An in-seam pocket with a small box of sewing pins at its opening.
An in-seam pocket anchored at the waist, laying flat on the table.
A waist-anchored in-seam pocket pattern.
Working on a waist-anchored pocket for the upcoming Crescent Skirt. French seaming is extra work, but don't we all deserve a nice pocket or two. Pattern and tutorial in my blog: wildcress.com/blog/tutoria...

I can't decide whether I like illustrations or photos better, after trying them both in my patterns. My personal preference is "good illustrations > photos > bad illustrations". What's your opinion?
