New publication on stomatal decoupling led by Zhaoguo Wang. I first noticed decoupling in temperature response curves in 2016 (tinyurl.com/k6dnhn94) and have been intrigued since. This study focuses on decoupling under experimental warming, showing interesting patterns

Great paper, Bianca! Congrats!
My PhD paper is out!
We showed that both forest and grassland are vulnerable to drought, but the vulnerability is attributable to different reasons: higher sensitivity to drought in forests (narrower #SM50) and lower fog exposure in grasslands. Check it out: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

Leaf drought and heat tolerance are integrated across three temperate biome types
I am very happy to see our paper out! Plant responses to many stresses are mediated by the same processes and I have long wondered how this relates to hotter droughts.

My first paper is out! We investigated how #photosynthetic and #respiratory #thermal #acclimation 🌡️ and #canopy size 🌳 shape tree net #carbon uptake under prolonged warming and drought. Check it out: onlinelibrary.wiley.com/share/author...

Our new paper describing a novel method for measuring plant cell turgor is now online at PNAS: www.pnas.org/doi/10.1073/...
We demonstrate how nucleating microbubbles inside plant cells and studying their growth and dissolution dynamics allows us to estimate turgor pressure.
🌿🔥How heat and VPD shape tree survival? We tested how acclimation to high temperature & VPD impacts drought mortality. While heat speeds up death via leaf area expansion, VPD acclimation slows it down by enhancing stomatal control - balancing mortality timing. doi.org/10.1111/PCE....
My student Lucas (the bark boy) is on his way to solving a leaky radial mystery effect. Stay tuned for upcoming news on bark conductance in Cerrado species!

Small mangrove species Aegiceris corniculatum flowering
Very happy to see this paper out in Plant, Cell & Environment ! 🥳
We show that:
➡️ Foliar water uptake contribute to leaf water potential recovery in mangroves 🌿💧
➡️ Tidal dynamic did not affect morning dew uptake 🌳🌊
