Posthumous portrait of Mary, Queen of Scots (1542-1587) in captivity. Painted by the "London School", specific painter unknown. In the Royal Collection, London.
On the same day, Queen Elizabeth I agreed to appoint 36 commissioners to act as judges at Mary's upcoming trial. In October 1586, Mary was put on trial at Fotheringhay Castle for plotting against Elizabeth. She was convicted on October 25 and sentenced to death. #2
Today in Tudor History, 25 September 1586, Mary, Queen of Scots was moved to Fotheringhay Castle in Northamptonshire, marking the final stage of her imprisonment before her trial & execution. #TudorHistory #TudorDynasty #History #Anglophile #Tudors #England #UK
The Christening of Prince Arthur Tudor took place at Winchester Cathedral. Arthur was christened by Bishop Peter Courtenay of Exeter. His godparents were his maternal grandmother, Elizabeth Woodville & John de Vere, the Earl of Oxford. #2

He and his show so deserved that Emmy!!!
Today in #TudorHistory, 24 1486, Prince Arthur, the first son of Henry VII & Elizabeth of York, was christened at Winchester Cathedral. His birth symbolized the union of the Houses of Lancaster & York, uniting the houses to end the Wars of the Roses. #TudorDynasty #History #Anglophile
I was going to add that!🙂🙂

Cropped image from the wedding portrait, attributed to Jan Gossaert, c. 1516
Mary's brother, Henry VIII, arranged the marriage as a political alliance to secure peace between England & France. Mary's time as Queen of France was brief. King Louis XII died on New Year's Day, 1515, just months after their wedding. #2
Today in #TudorHistory, 23 September 1514, Princess Mary Tudor, the younger sister of King Henry VIII, began her journey to France to marry the much older King Louis XII. Mary was just 18 years old when she was married by proxy to the 52 YO & ailing King Louis XII. #TudorDynasty #History #Anglophile
😂😂😂❄️❄️❄️🤡🤡🤡
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣This person I have to meet. Cankles have difficulty getting down?
Coward!
He stood in front of the world at the UN today, and every other word out of his mouth was a lie. I’ll say it again, we’ve not been here before. An American President who lies as he breathes. It’s a terrible place to be. Shame on the media & everyone who’s normalized his lying and/or doesn’t care.
Remember: If we allow ourselves to fall into fatalism, or wallow in disappointment, or become resigned to what is rather than what should be, we will lose the long game.
The greatest enemy of positive social change is cynicism about what can be changed.

The portrait of Anne painted in the 1540s by Bartholomäus Bruyn the Elder.
"The King's Beloved Sister": After the annulment, Anne received a generous settlement and the title of "the King's Beloved Sister." She remained in England for the rest of her life, outliving Henry VIII & all of his other wives. I think Anne is my favorite. She truly survived & lived her life! #2
