Impressive report from CRUK with important ramifications for EU-UK #reset
With the UK-EU summit in May, our new report and blog reveal the impact of Brexit and how the UK-EU reset can enhance cancer research collaboration. βBeating cancer is a team effort. Whether as a family, as a community or as a continent.β (Ursula von der Leyen, 2024) bit.ly/42X88YE 1/9
The @NILQ established a series in which academics reflect on academic writing. Delighted to be the sixth such reflection published, joining those of @Mariana Valverde and @Barbara Prainsack (and some others). Thank you to everyone who has co-written with me, or is currently co-writing with me!

I can't tell you how affirming it is to read this list. Good people, doing what they can, not cowering in a corner.
βThe basic equation hasnβt changed. Access to European markets is priced in alignment with European rules, and it isnβt a pick-and-mix counter.β - @rafaelbehr.bsky.social

βThe very threat of that [immigration] enforcement deters congregants from attending services, especially members of immigrant communities.β
Itβs wonderful to see various religious communities like Quakers organise to defend the rights of migrants. This is religious freedom in action.
Solidarity.
New semester, new group for my elective module. Sadly the last time I get to teach it (new rules require more than the 47 students who enrolled this year) #eurelations #inclusion
Brilliant - thanks Mike!
We routinely see people dress their revulsion towards trans people and their medical care as βconcern.β But cases like this are just a gross breach of trans peopleβs privacy. Such tactics mirror how anti-abortion activists have sought to strip away reproductive care. We must challenge this politics.
πΊπΈπΊπ³As the #US exits the #WHO, can the #EU fill the gap in #GlobalHealth leadership?
βThe EU has already showed its intention to consolidate its influence on the global stage, enhanced after COVID-19 and with the discussions around the EU Global Health Strategyβ

I had the pleasure to review an incredibly interesting and highly valuable book: Not What The Bus Promised by @tamarahervey.bsky.social, @ivankaantova.bsky.social, Mark Flear, and Matthew Wood. I strongly recommend it to anyone whoβs interested in all things Brexit and health governance.
