That’s not responsible leadership. That’s mismanagement. Nova Scotians deserve better.
But Tim Houston has driven Nova Scotia into the deepest financial hole we’ve ever been in.
Now he's trying to balance the budget on the back of the most vulnerable Nova Scotians with cuts to services and jobs people rely on.
The Houston government inherited a balanced budget and received unprecedented revenue over the last five years — more money to work with than any government in our province’s history. And the premier himself is a chartered accountant.
And while Nova Scotians show up to defend their land, livelihoods and culture, the Premier is in Ontario, avoiding the consequences of his own choices.
Today I joined hundreds of Nova Scotians at the Shoulder to Shoulder rally at Province House.
Nova Scotians are upset and they have every right to be. These cruel cuts are hurting families and communities across our province.

The Premier made himself the energy minister, and so far he’s refused to launch a review of Nova Scotia Power, provide real protections, or take meaningful action to lower people’s power bills.
He squandered years of unprecedented revenues, and now Nova Scotians are paying the price.
Cruel cuts like slashing the program that helped Nova Scotians afford their power bills — those are the choices this government is making as life gets less affordable.

It's not clear who Tim Houston is defending with this budget but it’s not everyday Nova Scotians.
Nova Scotians trusted this government, but what they're getting is higher power bills, housing that’s harder to afford, uncertainty around emergency care, a lack of affordable childcare, a credit downgrade and a massive deficit.
Five years of record revenues in Nova Scotia have been squandered.
The cuts run wide and deep: public service jobs, the arts and libraries, tourism, community organizations and the scientific management of our natural resources to name a few.
