would be nice if folks named the specific contexts their research comes from too! that way, we might actually start to comprehend the complexity of different societies, instead of trying to explain everything through just one lens. we’re social scientists, after all!

phrases like “research indicates”, “findings suggest”, “evidence shows” etc. often come from US based scholarship that gets treated as universally applicable...

as a young researcher, I must admit that one of the challenges of studying a non-western context is that your work is almost always treated as a case study. you're expected to specify the country or context in your title... and your "case study" often ends up being seen as the exception to the rule
