Carol's attitude is a feature, not a bug, and intentional--after all, who better to go up against a plague of endlessly happy drones than someone terminally pissed? The show explores *why* she's this way (which also explains why she's even more averse to the hive than others)... but...

either you act rude to a hive mind that wants to convert you against your will, or play nice to manipulate them. Carol did both, and both are valid options, and the result was the same both ways.

that have in the past used their unique positions to speak truth and opposition to power are hard to come by and greatly valued. Through that lens, that's what's galling about this crossover: a seeming ally & voice of resistance, teaming w/allies of fascists for $$$ & revealing who they really are.

I haven't heard anything new by They Might Be Giants in years, but listening to "Wu-Tang," I can hear that they've still got it after all this time.

Which is wild, because I absolutely had a whole interpretation of what was going on with the lyrics--a bleak chorus surrounded by surreal gibberish made me think the theme was "We, all about to die, have all gone raving mad, hear us sing" and, nope, it's TMBG does Bad Lip Reading 😆
... ignoring that people are capable of caring about multiple things at once. Indeed, that kind of complaint implies you can only care about One Important Thing At A Time, or Only The Most Important Things Matter. Just say "I don't get why you're upset about this," and then try asking why instead.
Back to point #1 -- the "there are more important things to worry about" complaint isn't exclusive to this issue. It's shorthand for people who just don't want to hear someone complaining about something if it doesn't fit what they deem is important, while at the same time...
